Merry Christmas to everyone! The little guy has already run off to play with Hot Wheels and listen to his new CD. Later we will probablygo for a walk and try this thing out. Last night's candlelight service was beautiful and a home baked chicken pie made for a perfect Christmas Eve dinner. We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

Absolute middle of nowhere... got stuck in quicksand, got lost at night in a marsh, did not catch a fish, and driving cold wind blew sand into everything. And... I can't wait to go back to Portsmouth Island NC. What an incredible place.

What do you think? Accurate or no? We were gifted these lego mini figures at an event awhile back... and I think they are pretty spot on. I'm just glad they didn't use the short legs for me.

Cape Lookout NC... we have been all up and down the NC coast but have never made it onto the pedestrian ferry that takes you to Cape Lookout. The only other way to get here is a offroad ferry several miles to the north. We spent some time wandering around the old lighthouse and the home there and walked the beach looking for shells. The wind has blown the dunes across what used to be the yard but it feels like time froze here.

Turns out you can camp here, so we've made plans to come back asap.

I've been working on a hunting and camping trail leading to the back corner of the family property as part of a slow improvement project. We've also been working on a bushcraft shelter for camping in.. Just put up a new video on YouTube on starting... and getting the tractor out.

Some of these old tractor trails have been abandoned for 30 years and are in rough shape. The steep hill from the upper field was only passable at a 90-degree angle otherwise, I would have risked flipping. I pushed the brush and leveled the path no problem and nearly made it across the small stream. However, I attempted to move a few logs blocking my path, and the weight and activity caused the creek bank to soften. When I sunk in, the bush hog lodged into the bank, making it impossible to back up. Thankfully, the family is willing and enthusiastic when it comes to projects like this and jumped in with truck and chains to make a recovery attempt.
