We will take back our democracy from the corporations! This Not for Profit group, formed under the laws of the State of New York. As set forth in The 99% Declaration (www.the99declaration.org) the purpose of this Working Group is to organize and fund a nationwide election of 876 delegates from all of the 435 congressional districts in the United States. One man and one woman will be elected from e
ach district by direct democratic voting that will take place over an entire weekend in late March or early April of 2012. Six additional delegates to represent American Samoa, the District of Columbia, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands will also be elected. The only requirements to run for delegate will be United States citizenship, having reached the age of 18 and a resident of the district for the six months prior to the March election. These Delegates shall not be permitted to run on any party line, label or platform and may only run as Americans. The candidates who run and/or serve as delegate may not take money from any private sources. Once elected by the voters, these 876 delegates will confer online and/or conference call to work on a draft petition of grievances between April and late June of 2012. The 876 Delegates of the National General Assembly will then formally convene on July 4, 2012 in the City of Philadelphia, the cradle of our democracy to debate, finalize, ratify and sign the fInal Petition for a Redress of Grievances to be served upon all three branches of the United States government. Not only will this final Petition for a Redress of Grievances be presented to all three branches of the federal government, it will also be sent to all candidates running for federal office in the 2012 general election well before election day in November 2012. It is the view of the original members of this working group that this public presentation of a formal Petition, as guaranteed by the First Amendment to the Constitution, will compel the candidates running for federal office in 2012 to take a position on the specific points in the Petition while the entire world watches. Under section V of the 99% Declaration, if the final Petition for the Redress of Grievances is not acted upon by the government within a reasonable period of time, the Delegates shall reconvene and organize a nationwide, grassroots campaign to elect independent candidates in the 2014 midterm election. This election of independent candidates will seek to replace ALL of the 435 members of the House of Representatives and ALL Senators up for election in 2014. The candidates of this new party may not run using any party labels. Sadly, however, these independent candidates will have to take private money to get elected so they can change the system from within and enact the goals and solutions of the Petition for a Redress of Grievances ratified by the National General Assembly in July 2012. The voices of the 99% will be heard and be heeded or the current members of Congress, many of whom have an approval rating of less than 9%, will be replaced en masse by ordinary citizens who seek to serve the best interests of our country rather than do the harmful and avaricious bidding of corporations. Capitalism, an economic system, has merged with the state to create an unregulated corporatocracy which Benito Mussolini referred to as the purest form of Fascism. tempus neminem manet!
