Embracing the spirit of adventure, we ride the with deep gratitude for the remarkable life and enduring legacy of Major General Fred A. Haeffner, USAF. As the founder and builder of the iconic Hawknest on Pelican Lake, MN in the 1950s, Major General Haeffner left an indelible mark on both our local community and the nation.

This Memorial Day, we pay tribute to a true American hero whose dedication and sacrifice secured the freedom we enjoy today. Major General Haeffner's distinguished service in the United States Air Force exemplified unwavering bravery, leadership, and commitment to duty. We honor his spirit and salute his contributions to our great nation.

As we glide across the waters, clutching the American flag, we not only celebrate the joys of life and the pursuit of happiness, but also cherish the memories and the values instilled by Major General Haeffner. The Hawknest stands as a testament to his vision, determination, and love for this beautiful corner of the world.
