At the entrance into the incredibly ‘gorgeous’ Columbia Gorge here in Oregon is a lil historic town named Troutdale. Where once the Wild West was abound & a tiny spicy Native American woman ran the town. Clara Latourell, Troutdale mayor 1913.
There is soo much history here & sitting on the west end of the historic Columbia River Hwy in Troutdale is a lovely shop curating all kinds of beauty & gorgeousness highlighting Pacific Northwest & local artisans.
Welcome to Artistree NW You will find a plethora of amazement here including our TAKOTA COFFEE!

Today was yet another banner day at the Happy Valley/Sunnyside Farmers Market! This is the only Farmers Market we do & we are only here twice a month! We’ve increased our supplies each time we come & each time you all are scooping them up!!!

Dude! You would not believe how much work & dedication it takes to do this!
It’s EVERY DAY! It’s ALL DAY! And even into the night.
We wake up EARRRLY! It’s a good thang we have access to REALLY GOOD COFFEE! WE NEED IT! AND SOME DAYS MORE THAN OTHERS!!
We just keep going & then a day like today comes along…
We’re standing on pavement all day talking about coffee but not just any coffee. We’re sharing our TAKOTA COFFEE story. Our passion for what we are doing and why. And it’s the passion & integrity that people can taste in every profile we offer.
It’s the hours of dedication, of creating & offering specialty coffees we can be proud of that one can taste in every sip. It’s seeing familiar faces return to pick up their fav &/or try out a new profile & it’s their smiles & greetings that pull us through.
One of the best things about building this dream is watching how people react to our coffee.
I could tell you story after story of the people we get to meet. About the gentleman who showed up today saying his daughter had bought him some of our coffee & he loved it so he came by to meet us & tell us how good it is & shared with us how she had just given birth to his newest grandchild! We remember her coming over to sample TAKOTA COFFEE & how Jeff talked with her as she went on a journey with ‘the roaster’ from light to dark roast, South American, Indonesia, Africa, Latin & Central America…all beautiful coffees with coffee notes pulled forward to enjoy its fruit.
Yes, Coffee is a fruit! It’s beautiful, mysterious, it can be very complex. Roasting is science. It takes dedication, skill & if you are really good at it, one can develop intuitive ability. Jeff has become, through time, training, much experience & dedication a keenly intuitive roaster.
And it shows.
He’s developed a passion he honestly didn’t expect to grow at the level that has surprised even himself.
I love watching this unfold. I love witnessing his passion. I snapped these pictures today witnessing his passion being shared with others.
Relationships building from customers & families.
We can’t wait to meet the newest member of this gentlemen’s family, his newest grandchild. We all become part of an interwoven connection cheering each other on all in a world connected via coffee.

Everyone!
Time to do a re-introduction & a LisaLivesNorth, Jeff & TAKOTA COFFEE update!
I started Lisa Lives North years back taking ya’l through a journey of life in the PNW & Native heritage showcasing hand crafted Native American jewelry & more.
2023 I found myself waking up from a comma in ICU in the brain trauma unit after suffering a brain aneurism burst.
3 emergency brain procedures, a respirator, feeding tubes, paralyzed on my left side, blind in both eyes. They said I’d never get my vision back, most likely never walk again, if I could somehow it would never be normal.
When that artery burst it tried to take me with it!
I went through alot of physical rehab, through a fierce battle to make it back & somehow miracle after miracle after 💪🏼 here I am today.
I’m not done!
Am I back to my old self? No. This is the new version with reflections of the past pushing forward for each day to come.
I founded TAKOTA COFFEE in 2018. Jeff joined me full time as COO.
I not yet sat down at my jewelry bench. Strength & steadiness in my hands I’m working towards. I can & do walk every single day I’m given! My brain team of doctors are blown away at my recovery.
My eyesight? That itself is a miraculous story & I’m here today to say I can legally drive & have so much thankfulness in my heart for sight, sound, for legs & feet that carry me & a business that’s growing & thriving in coffee. I’m still pushing & gaining every day.
I’ve always said my entire life “I’m not go’n down without a fight!” And I’m NOT!
Please stay with me as we walk this journey of life together!
You’ll find me here, also sling’n TAKOTA COFFEE with the most amazing man on the planet! PLEASE FOLLOW
There’s a 1st time purchase discount code up on the website for you right now!
No matter what life throws at us let’s hold on!
There is so much purpose we cannot see! It unfolds as we take movement forward!
Thank you for being here with me💖

THE COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN!!!

TAKOTA COFFEE has a new profile soon to be released & we are super excited to share it with you all!

This coffee is our newest addition to our TAKOTA COFFEE line up.
We are extremely proud of every single ounce of detailed effort that dialing in this Fair Trade Organic specialty coffee special edition has taken.

NCHI - WANA
(Nch’i -Wàna)
Means ‘Great River’ or ‘Big River’.
I wanted to choose a Native American word/name that would pay respect & homage to our, Oregon’s, amazing GORGEeous Columbia River.
I also wanted to ad a chinook as this salmon has provided & continues to provide life to the people/tribes along its great river gorge.
Jeff & I created our own coastal interpretation of this Chinook for placement on our NCHI - WANA label. We’ll be utilizing this trademark Chinook for future designs in marketing/merch!
Keep an eye out!

MORE TO SHARE SOON TO COME!!!

I read a beautiful write up Wednesday morning about animal husbandry.
(Thank you Allison Porterfield)
For those of you who aren’t familiar with that term in a nut shell it’s about loving & caring for your animal to the point that you do what’s best for them & not suckle your own emotions & selfish desires.
It’s about having the bigger heart to let go when you don’t necessarily have the inner emotional strength to do it.
It’s about sucking up what puddle of tears you might submerge into & making yourself swim even simply tread water to last until their last breath all the while you’re barely able to inhale &/or exhale yourself.
And of course this beautiful write up just ‘happened’ to find me via Facebook (Thanks Alli!) while I’m lying on the kitchen floor at 6 am stroking the brow of my 15+ year old Australian Shepherd as he’s leaning into his own time of transition.
The one where he will cross over the rainbow bridge to his eternal resting place.
This water I’m treading created by tears of memories of a good & faithful friendship is HARD EXHAUSTING!
I wanna run away.
I wanna tuck myself in every second of blanketed escape but it’s not possible.
Not for even a F’n minute.
He deserves better.
He deserves to lean into the love & warmth of our bond.
I’m trying not to lose it!
Cuz I swear if I do I’ll be like a Turkey who drowns himself in the beautiful rain he’s watching fall from the sky!
Yes! They do that!!!
I know if I allow this damn dam to break there’ll be no turning back!
I’ll be gone! Swept away to drown in my own selfish emotion to keep him here!
The reason I decided to share this window peak into my heart with ya’l right now is just in case to help anyone out there who might be hurting when it comes to their own dog &/or animal love heart.
Its also what i do. I write.
Its a form of therapy so to speak for me.
I don’t want anyone to tell me what to do or say what they did or what they think.
I don’t wanna share these moments, in his presence these last times with him with anyone.
I’m not a super selfish person at all accept when it comes to selfish love.
I’m using the free card right now.
The one that says this is my call.
I get to decide.
This is my dog. My best friend.
And I will do whats right for him, for us.

I am NOT doing very good in this particular puddle of tears.

You’d think for as much death as I’ve experienced around me in this life I’d be stronger.
I’m just a complete internal mess with snot sniffing backwards streams of tears pouring down my face.
I’ve held the hands of grandparents, my parents, my sister, beloved aunt, best friends, even strangers before they cross.
I’ve loved on the warm skin of a precious 3 month old baby girl while she took her last breaths.
Yet with this old guy I AM A MESS!
This old man & I have been through so much together in the last 15 + years.
We’ve went through huge incredible adventures & tragic heartache.
He’s been on some of the craziest hikes & climbs, swam in the ocean, lakes & rivers, danced through fresh rain puddles & plowed through puddles of mud over & over with complete & utter abandonment. Both he & his predisessor have been the go to ranch hand for gathering up the steers & bring’n em back where they belong safe & sound. And in turn thats what this old dog has done for me too over & over throughout these years of our bond together.
He has certainly round me out & reeled me back in whenever I’ve needed his lead. Good & faithful friend he is.
We’ve ridden quite the journey.
I get it buddy. My joints hurt too.
I’m tired.
Wish we could make this journey together.
I wanna be beyond the vale too.
I wanna go back where no one spouts off their mouths in disrespect or pushes their agendas. Where hard work is part of your makeup & grit to turn em out & get’er done are days well spent.
I wanna go beyond to that place where peace abounds & caring & love for one another comes first, comes easy.
In reality buddy I’m happy for you.
I envy where you’re going & how you’ll feel when you arrive.
I’m so thankful we got to accompany each other for awhile on this journey through this place.
There are actually moments I give thought to the fact that ya, I would have made it on my own, I coulda chose that route but you’ve made me such a better person because of having you in my life.
Let’s make a solid pack.
Let’s set our sites on our reunion!
That exhilarating moment when the arrival mayhem parts & I see you running from the top of that hill to greet me in that lush green valley.
More monumental…
Even bigger & better than when Chance, Sassy & Shadow showed up in Homeward Bound!
Let’s do that!
Or I swear I’m just gonna die right here with you in this cavern of tears.

Hey ya’l!
I’ve been in California for several days as my aunt passed away & family has gathered from far & near to pay respect.
It’s been a taxing journey yet one I am forever grateful for this time of being together in her honor.
I want to share with you a picture of my uncle. He is my Uncle Will, loved & best known as Buffalo Will.
My uncle raised Buffalo/bison on his ranch in Eldorado Hills California.
He has since sold off his heard and all that remains is this taxidermy of one of his prized bulls affectionately known as ‘Bully’.
Uncle Will is soo proud of TAKOTA COFFEE and what we are building with honor & respect in growing this business & giving back to our heritage to help those on the reservations here in America. He gives it his blessing & from him that means sooo much to me!
We had fun taking pics & he wanted to put his headdress on to pose with holding TAKOTA COFFEE in his hands.
Dont be suprised if you find him in future marketing! He is quite legendary & said he is always willing to stand tall to honor our native heritage especially when it means he gets such a good hi grade cup of coffee! He says “Good Medicine” as he lifts it up & smiles!
Oh how i love this man with all my heart!
I am his God daughter & proud & so honored to be so!
