It’s time for a BREAK from everything! Don’t you agree? And what’s better than a PARTY that also supports the community? Not much in my book. Come see live music, good eats and lots of crafts. Activate Puna was created after 2018 lava flow because we needed a reason to get together and well…. We haven’t forgotten how to do that! Check out the website and don’t make any other plans, except this one. You reallllly won’t want to miss it. Details below—
It’s time to get activated! Join us for the final Activate Puna Town Party & Benefit Concert on Saturday, May 9 in Downtown Pāhoa.

The party runs 3:30-10:30PM, with Pāhoa Village Road transformed into an open air market full of local vendors and is free to walk through. The concert at the former Akebono Theater lot is a ticketed event and features a beer garden, live art, and fire dancing.

All proceeds support youth scholarships and beautification projects in Pāhoa.

Today is the day I get serious. I’ve got all the safety stuff.
Yes, on April 17, 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order opening the Pacific Islands Heritage Marine National Monument to U.S. commercial fishing. This monument, encompassing nearly 490,000 square miles southwest of Hawaii, was initially established in 2009 by President George W. Bush and expanded in 2014 by President Barack Obama to protect marine life, including endangered species such as hawksbill and Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles .

The executive order permits U.S.-flagged vessels to fish within 50 to 200 nautical miles inside the monument’s boundaries. The Trump administration argues that existing laws provide adequate protections and that the move supports U.S. commercial fishing operations without negatively impacting the monument’s resources .

However, the decision has sparked controversy. Environmental groups and some lawmakers, including Senator Brian Schatz of Hawaii, have expressed concerns that this action undermines conservation efforts and biodiversity.

Hey hey!!! So…. I’ve been quiet I know. I got really sick for a while and when I was over that the world started burning 😂 any way… I’m back at it! Tomorrows event is a random grab but if you notice, some artisans will be demonstrating how it’s made. It’ll be a blast and this is a great opportunity to support your community locally AND learn something! Hope to see you there tomorrow 💖🌈✨

When you find that perfect piece, do you feel like it was by fate and meant to be? This amazing agatized palm wood piece went to someone born and raised in Hilo but visiting from the mainland after several years. It’s a story of sadness with a beautiful evolution into happiness full of hope and love. I was so happy that this went to a local being that it was the vision I had.
I also can’t deny that she’s looking quite spectacular in that pice as well. She is from a different island but their goal is to move back to big island and I have all the faith that he will be brining his family home. All the goosebumps and feels were present as you could sense that the decision was solidified at that moment.
Im so happy that I was able to be present at this moment and wish them all the happiness, joy and good fortune. Unfortunately, they have chosen to not be a part of this social world (but it’s not that unfortunate) and they may never know the depth I also felt. None the less, thanks for ending 2024 with a bang and HELLO 2025!

Birthday jungle life. It’s all the new outdoor bathroom/vanity/hot tub/shower. I get to test it out for the inaugural fill!
