So, we made leather products that cater to our lifestyle. Flourish Leather began in May of 2011 when we, as individuals, learned how to braid our first bracelet from boot-master Bo Riddle. Danielle and I were just acquaintances at the time but soon we would fall in love and join our hands in an ever growing, Flourishing if you will, leather business. Initially, Danielle had a large social footprin
t in the online world. When she took a step, people took notice. So, as she introduced a handful of braided bracelets she was delighted to find a response from her friends and followers. The little company served as means to afford fancy coffee in the first few months, but as time went by it became clear that these little bracelets were very much liked and sought after. Eventually a few more styles of bracelets were added which increased the appeal and the draw of Flourish. During this time Danielle and I were, unbeknownst to ourselves, creating a little life form that would soon rock our world and give us new purpose to succeed in our online business. So, we introduced some wallets. Just a few, at first, made mostly out of small pieces of various printed leathers that appealed to the weirdo in me and that, in my heart I was sure, would appeal to some like-minded soul out there. Lo and behold there was a little response to my funky color schemes, which included wallet interiors in another color than black (gasp!). Eventually I started to experiment with tooling and stamping and dyeing and staining, which yielded diverse, gorgeous and grotesque results, by turns. But the wallets kept coming in many styles and colors and genres and niches. Now we are able appeal to a diverse and far reaching crowd. The Etsy community has shown us so much love and we look forward to more conversations and custom orders. It's a wonderful time to be a leather crafter and have a little online business that is continuing to Flourish
