If you have ever heard that ETA 2824 movements do not like to be hand wound, this is why. The crown wheel is designed to rock back and forth on a brass post. If the watch is not regularly serviced, this post can wear very quickly which will result in the bridge needing to be replaced prematurely. With regular service, these bridges have a fairly long life and a small amount of hand winding is not an issue.

This beautiful (and great condition) Favre-Leuba recently came in for some minor repairs. The movement in these watches uses two mainspring barrels, which helps maintain more stable amplitude and therefore improves the accuracy of the watch.

A pocket watch was recently sent in for service with this beautiful hand engraving on the back of the case. Hand engraved cases are pieces of art and can take hundreds of hours to complete depending on complexity. This case was likely engraved well over a century ago based on the age of the watch.
