Here are the results of the just concluded MI Open Shooting Dog CH in Ionia.
Winner of the 45 minute Open Derby Classic was Glenmere’s Silver Roo - owned and handled by Jeff Haggis and scouted by Matt Haggis (not pictured).
Runner Up was Windfall Mackinaw Straights - owned and handled by Joe Guzman and scouted by Kelsey Hajek.
Jeff was gracious in continuing the long standing tradition of the winner buying the pizza dinner! Great comrades and a great time. Layne Hodges celebrated his good fortune in the points race by picking up the drinks tab!
In the Open Championship ‘Thunderbolt’ struck again! The winners were both sired by 3x MI CH Chelsea’s Thunderbolt!
Winner and Runner Up were both Handled by Shawn Kinkelaar and scouted by Billy Stewart. WR - Thunderbolt’s Storm is owned by Dr. Thomas Jackson. RU - Thunderbolt’s Wild Again is owned by Doug Swingley. Congratulations to All!

Here are the results of the Drawing for the MI Open Shooting Dog Championship and Derby Classic. Starts Monday the 15th ( after the region 13 CH) on course one Ionia Field Trial Grounds.

Getting dogs or horses (kids?) desensitized to the lake or most any body of water is still pretty much unchanged. Goes a whole lot smoother when you have a firm sand bottom they can see and they’re hot, tired and thirsty! 😉

Have not updated in quite some time. I will be updating the website in the coming months- (winter project) now tha the new house is completed and we are moved in!

We recently had a litter of 11 pups! They are all very nice big healthy pups out of dogs that have been proven on the Canadian prairie on wild birds. Most are all spoken for but there may be two available as I continue to try to figure out which I am keeping for myself. This has truly been a reach in and pick-em’ litter.

Back to Back!
It starts with the right decisions in the breeding shed - thanks Don Wiggins. It is then ‘Made’ on the prairies of the west on wild birds. And then validated on the grounds in MI. Thanks to all of the club officials, members and their judges for all of their time and effort!
And yes Three is a female. Typo.

MI Open Shooting Dog CH Info: Dog Wagon available for the CH if you don't ride a horse - you can still enjoy!

Jim and I discussed and due to the weather considerations we will start the Derby on Monday at 9:00AM - weather permitting.
The CH will begin at 8:00 AM on Tuesday (everyday) and we will run Six braces daily. Below is a link to a web page where you can launch a PDF of the Stake ad and the running orders. Just scroll to the bottom of the page and select the button of what you wish to see. please forward to whomever may want it as well. We will have printed copies available in the clubhouse.

Windfall Three Deep - last workout before her first walking stake at Highland on 3/17 where she placed 3rd in the OD. This past weekend she place 1st in the OD horseback at Ionia and 2nd in the AD.
On the way home good friend Joe Wohlfert delivered the biggest prize of the weekend - a beautiful pup sired by her littermate from breeder Don Wiggins!
Thanks Don for another great prospect!

It was another great weekend at Ionia. Big thanks to the Farmers Sportsman FTC for hosting a really nice club trial - good entries good judges who worked hard in rainy weather and great sportsmanship! Thanks to Bill and Cindy Klenner and Bill Branham and Chris Cagle for all the hard work and the awesome lunch and dinner. It was appreciated by all!
My young dogs had another good showing with a 1st and 2nd in the Open Derby and 1st in the Amateur Derby!
Windfall Queen of Soul (aka “Frankie”) took the 2nd as a 7 mo. old with multiple finds and a really”happy” race.
All the hard work and great start as a puppy shows!
