25 YEARS OF BIG RASCAL BBQ. AND WE’RE STILL NOT DONE!

This place was never about fancy. Never about trends. Just Charlie’s promise — real smoked BBQ, served like you’re part of the family… even if you showed up hangry or a little late to the table.

We’ve fed this town through it all — good days, rough days, loud days, quiet ones. And somehow, y’all kept coming back. So yeah… we’re grateful. Deeply.

So for our 25-year celebration, we’re throwing it back the way we know best — bold, simple, and worth every bite:

🥩 $20 Pound of Brisket or Burnt Ends - TAX INCLUDED
Straight-up smoked brisket or burnt ends, to take home and wreck your fridge in the best way. Take-out only.

🍗 Quarter Chicken & Brisket Plate – $14.99
A couple of Charlie's favorites — juicy quarter chicken paired with a quarter pound of your choice of brisket or burnt ends, loaded up with two sides and fresh baked bread like it should be.

🔥 Brisket or Burnt Ends Plate – $15.99
No shortcuts. No frills. Just delicious, smokey fork-tender BBQ done right, with two sides and fresh baked bread on the side.

We’re not fancy. We’re still here. We’re just getting started.

From Charlie and the Big Rascal crew — thanks for 25 years of showing up hungry. Let’s keep it going!!!

Kitten season is here, and it came in fast.

Our foster homes are full of tiny lives that need constant care, and our supplies are already nearly gone.
If you love kittens, have a soft spot for the fragile ones, or believe this work matters, we are asking for your help.

We have an Amazon wish list with exactly what our fosters need right now. Every item goes straight into the hands of someone feeding, cleaning, and watching over the babies.
If you can give, you become part of their survival story.

Donations can be purchased here: https://a.co/0eyqJ68B.

Even one item helps. If any groups are willing to collect these supplies and help us fill our kitten pantry shelves, we would be incredibly grateful.🙏

💔 From “Hey, You!” to Hollywood Glory — The Mother Who Made Kirk Douglas

Her name was Bryna, and she came from a tiny village in the old Russian Empire — today’s Belarus.
She had no money, no education, and no idea how hard life in America would be.

When her fiancé Herschel left for the U.S., he promised to bring her over once he made it big. A year later, she stepped onto a ship bound for a country she’d never seen, holding nothing but hope.

They settled in Amsterdam, New York, a small, cold mill town. Bryna gave birth to seven children, six daughters and one son — Issur, though everyone called him Izzy.

But the American Dream quickly turned into a nightmare.
Herschel drank, gambled, and yelled. He never once called his wife by name — only “Hey, you.”
And Bryna? She worked herself to the bone, taking in laundry and begging the butcher for discarded bones to make soup for her starving kids.

Her son, little Izzy, would one day say:

“On good days, we had omelettes made with water. On bad days, we didn’t eat at all.”

But Bryna never broke. She believed in her children — especially Izzy.
When he said he wanted to be an actor, she didn’t laugh. She just said, “Try.”

Years later, Izzy Demsky became Kirk Douglas, one of Hollywood’s greatest legends — the man behind Spartacus, Paths of Glory, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

And when he made it, he never forgot her.
In 1949, he started his own film company and named it Bryna Productions — not for fame, not for himself, but for his mother, the woman who made it all possible.

In 1958, when The Vikings premiered in theaters, Kirk took her to Times Square.
There, glowing in giant letters across a billboard, were the words:

“BRYNA PRESENTS: THE VIKINGS.”

The woman who once boiled bones for soup saw her name shining over New York City.
Bryna cried — the kind of tears that come when a lifetime of struggle finally means something.

A few months later, she passed away at 74. Her last words to her son were gentle:

“Izzy, son… don’t be afraid. This happens to everyone.”

Kirk Douglas lived to 103. He credited everything — every film, every success — to his mother.
“The woman who couldn’t write her own name,” he said, “gave the world a legend.”

Because sometimes the greatest stories aren’t written in scripts — they’re lived by mothers who refuse to give up. 💫
