This Big Pilot’s Watch (Ref. IW500401) is over a decade old, and was last serviced six years ago. Over time, the watch has developed visible scratches on the case and clasp, and several wearing parts show signs of use and require replacement. The watch has been sent to Schaffhausen for a full service. IWC Watchmaker, Florian Salzer, reassembles the cleaned movement with new wearing parts, restoring the mechanical heart of the Big Pilot’s Watch. Fresh lubricants are applied, worn components are replaced, and the movement is precisely adjusted on the timing machine to ensure perfect accuracy. Finally, airtightness is tested to confirm the watch’s readiness for a new chapter on the wrist. This is the last of seven steps in a full watch servicing.
