It started at the Louvre, on a snowy day in January. My son was eight months old, just learning to reach for things, and he grasped at the glass for a fragment of the Three Graces.

Long after we got home, I kept thinking about these shards of history. About how so much of the ancient world has crumbled, but these small pieces survived - a column, a kiss, a faithful dog.

2,000 years later, you can reach for them too.

Crafted in 100% recycled solid gold in New York. Available now.

Fertility, memory, and wisdom. A Gnostic amulet for creation. Clio, the muse whose job was to make sure nothing was lost. Athena, who arrived in the world fully formed and armed, needing no one's permission. Three pendants from three realms of the ancient world.

The Amphitrite Sapphire Molten Ring. Named for the goddess the Greeks turned to when the sea grew rough. Not Poseidon. His wife. The one who actually controlled the waves, the dolphins, the safe return home. A sapphire the color of deep water, held in gold that looks like it was shaped by the tide.

Galatea was the ivory woman Pygmalion carved so beautifully that the gods gave her breath. These baroque pearls carry her name because they are shaped by nature, not symmetry, each one singular and alive. At the center, the Liberi Vivas ring. May you live carefree. Roman gold and Greek myth, worn together.

The Latin reads Liberi Vivas. May you live carefree. Found on a 3rd century Roman signet ring, it was the kind of personal inscription the ancient world wore close, a philosophical wish disguised as jewelry. Handcrafted in New York from recycled solid gold, set with two natural brilliant cut diamonds. An ancient benediction, still relevant.

The Ancient Heirloom Diamond Ring. Rope bezel, braided band, an oval diamond set low and close the way stones were held for centuries before the prong existed. This is what a diamond ring looked like before the modern engagement ring was invented. We just went back.

There is a particular kind of woman who appears in every century, in every court, in every empire. She is learned. She is composed. She is described by the men around her as impossible. Anne Boleyn. Cleopatra. Two such women, rendered in gold. From the Difficult Women Collection.

A blue topaz wrapped in molten gold. A Gnostic fertility gem. A scarab, sacred to the Egyptians, who believed it rolled the sun into existence each day. The AEI pendant, bearing the Greek word for "eternal," a single syllable found inscribed on ancient rings, amulets, and love tokens for centuries. And a scarab, sacred to the Egyptians, who believed it rolled the sun into existence each day. Four very different kinds of faith. All from the Esoterica Collection. https://commonera.com/collections/esoterica

Two stones ask different things of the same setting. A faceted diamond needs depth, space for light to enter and return, so the bezel rises. A cabochon moonstone glows from within, so it sits low, cradled close to the finger. The bezel itself dates back to antiquity. It predates every other setting technique. No prongs, no claws, just gold folded around stone like a protective hand. Sometimes the oldest method is still the most intelligent one.

Three engagement rings from the Ceremonia collection, each one designed to be treasured for generations. The Ancient Heirloom Ring, with its twisted rope bezel and braided band, borrows from Roman betrothal rings where knotted metalwork symbolized the binding of two lives.

The Lavinia is named for the woman whose hand ended a war and founded a civilization, the last bride in the Aeneid.

And the Isolde carries the weight of one of the great love stories of the medieval world, a love that was chosen at great cost.

Three different stones, three different settings, three different ideas about what it means to say yes.
