The Pennsylvania Gazette is an alumni magazine of the University of Pennsylvania originally published by Benjamin Franklin from 1729 to 1748.

It's an honor (and absolutely wild!) to be included in their May/June 2025 issue. This article will be printed, framed and on display in my office, forever.

An excerpt:

Budet now hopes her story-and others that are featured in the Women of Jewelry book-will motivate other aspiring artists. "I had no idea what I was doing when I started my jewelry business," she says. "I took the risk anyway."

Back to (my K-12) basics 👧🏻📚💁🏻‍♀️

Last week was a special one! Had so much fun going back to my high school in Puerto Rico. I was interviewed by Cecilia, a Senior who just got admitted to UPenn (Congrats, fellow Quaker! ♥️💙) and I can't really imagine a more perfect full circle moment.

Don't mind me and my PERMANENT smile! 😳😱😏🤩There are no words, what an absolute HONOR this is.

Margaret Shepard said “Sometimes your only available transportation is a leap of faith.” Ten years ago I took mine. Left what felt like a lifetime of training in architecture and brought that knowledge + design process into a different medium. No family or friends in the jewelry industry. No experience. No idea what I was doing. Created this job I have and love from scratch, then add some - actually, a lot of - blood, sweat and tears. Had friends become clients and clients become friends, sometimes even chosen family. Paved my way into exhibiting at the best trade shows in the world, won design awards internationally and in the US. New York Fashion Week, Met Gala red carpet, Vogue, WWD, ELLE.

Then on the 10th year this gem of a museum-quality project comes along. What is life, seriously? A girl from a small island in the Caribbean selected as one of 100 women in the world (only Puerto Rican!) and being quoted at a Sotheby’s New York panel discussion by the author, published in a book alongside two real life princesses.

Those who really know me know that all of this doesn’t change me, it never has, never will and I credit my parents for raising me that way. I’m incredibly hard on myself and tomorrow I’ll put my head down and continue to work as hard as ever with an underdog mentality as if all of what I’ve just shared was about a different person.

Not today, though. Today I’m patting myself on the back and embracing it. Celebrating it. So, if you’ve been in any way part of this journey, THANK YOU. I hope you celebrate with me and wear your MB pieces with a little bit more pride. 🤍

It was great to see Linda (author) again and to meet Peggy (book design). Both ladies deserve so much credit for this accomplishment. It was also amazing to meet some of the other women featured in the book.

Today on I’m thrilled to officially share that my work will be published in a book!

The book is titled ‘100 Women in Jewelry’ and it shares the body of work and stories of 100 female jewelry designers from all over the world.

I hope you know that I’m incredibly proud to share my work as a woman born and raised in Puerto Rico. I’m eternally grateful for the support I get year after year from my PR clients. I work really hard to properly represent you wherever I am.

I feel privileged to be part of something so powerful and influential that promotes diversity and inclusion in our industry. Thank you Linda, for giving me the opportunity to be part of it.

Pre-sale of a limited edition starts today - DM me for the link. For every book sale, donations will be made to these institutions’ scholarship programs - I’ve personally been involved with all three:
- The Women's Jewelry Association
- The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT)
- The Gemological Institute of America (GIA)

If you’ve been wondering what’s up with all the coffee posts on my business account lately: this is the reason. 😬☕️📚🤓👩🏻‍🎓

I’ve been wanting to become a Graduate Gemologist for a while now, but could never find (or I guess make) the time to fully commit to it, so I took the extra time the pandemic gave me and made the best out of it.

Juggling school and running a business (both full-time) was no joke. Going from having full control of my time and no day looking the same to the same routine at the same place every single day only confirmed that I’m not built for a corporate office job. 🙈

I did love every second of the experience and wouldn’t change a thing or the people I shared it with. I have more appreciation for my job and the materials I work with, if that’s even possible.

To my clients, who literally made this possible: THANK YOU. Your support and belief in me year after year is humbling and words will never be able to express how grateful I am for the privilege of educating myself further to better serve you. This belongs to you as well. I’ve missed you, I’ve missed the hustle and I’ve missed creating full time. I can’t wait to see you all soon for the holiday season. Great things ahead! 🤍
