Pearl is one of the birthstones for June and we at Jane Magon Collections love the South Sea Pearls. Did you know people have coveted pearls for thousands of years; the oldest written mention being in 2206BC. In ancient China, pearls were believed to guarantee protection from fire and fire-breathing dragons. In Europe, they symbolized modesty, chastity, and purity. This image is a glimpse of our Coco & Jane South Sea Pearl, Ruby, and multi-gemstone necklace. Visit on storefront on to purchase or our Janemagon website.

Jane Magon Collections Pearl Tassel Necklace with Fine Red Spinel and Freshwater seed pearls. Retail $3200 USD. The pearls soften the neck line for daytime, while the spinel sparkles for dinner.
HISTORY:
The tassel is a symbol of luxury and status: of Royal, military and religious attire. The tassel has been found in the ancient tombs of the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt, is referenced as far back as the Old Testament in the Bible – and found as far as China. In the ancient world tassels were worn on headdresses to protect the wearer from evil. The Latin word tassau means clasp - to ‘tie-off’ their garments. This graduated to the manufacture of gold and silver thread tassels – and so to jewellery. Tassels were used during the Renaissance, 17th century French royal court, the Empire and Victorian periods. Tassel making came to an ‘end’ after Versailles and the Victorian era. In contemporary times interest in tassels has returned – again, as luxury items. Often embroidery motifs result in jewelry designs.

Jane Magon Collections "Falling Apart" necklace is meant to appear to fall apart but are still somewhat connected (in order to be worn). However, it looks as if it is falling apart. Jane has tipped and juggled the slices of jade at indiscriminate angles to "deconstruct" the traditional "order" of a standard necklace. Is it constructed – or deconstructed? Set in Sterling Silver are 14 Faceted White Agate bezel set with a hidden clasp and Jane Magon Hallmark tag. Measures 18 inches. 169.5 grams.

Wear Your Personality

Confident people who are BOLD in their decision-making, with a need to strive tend to like my work. My designs work best for people who have found (or want to find) their strength.

When a person makes enormous efforts to achieve something difficult, changes take place in the brain. The brain is ‘plastic’ and malleable. The brain senses and interprets meaning. This is also called transformative experience – and we become something ‘Other.’

I was driven to design jewellery because I couldn’t find jewellery that satisfied me either EMOTIONALLY, INTELLECTUALLY, CULTURALLY or HISTORICALLY. From where I have come, my struggles as a child, my family, as a wife & parent, emotional concerns (strivings, survival, health and experiences), intellectual, academic and artistic, life story, travel – ‘Normal’ or ‘standard’ jewellery didn’t suit my needs. It was meaningless.
