Seaman Schepps

Seaman Schepps New York's Fine Jeweler Established in 1904, the name Seaman Schepps is synonymous with vibrant, original design and brilliant craftsmanship.

His colourful and whimsical jewelry, featuring unusual combinations of gemstones, captivated women, from American First Ladies to jet-setting heiresses to Hollywood screen sirens. With his chunky brooches, “barbaric” bracelets and “bubble” earrings, Schepps pioneered a unique style of jewelry whose sense of splendor offered a new perspective to the world of fine jewelry that challenged the status

quo and defined a new style for the American woman. Schepps’ jewellery embodied style and originality. As an extraordinary talent, Schepps became known as “America’s Court Jeweller” and his jewellery appealed to a myriad of clients from Katherine Hepburn to Andy Warhol to the Duchess of Windsor. Today, some twenty years after his death, he continues to inspire modern jewellers. Stemming from the tradition of wit and whimsy, Seaman Schepps’ new collections seek to inspire and captivate a new audience with an uncompromising quest for an innovative aesthetic. Classic pieces are rendered in new materials and signature materials are used for bold new styles. Schepps jewelry continues to be eminently collectible as the house carries on its century-old American heritage of creating bold jewels for independent women of great style.

At the beginning of time, wood was used to create art — carved, sculpted, shaped into the platforms for buildings. For thousands of years, it has been one of humanity’s first materials of expression.

As a living material, no two pieces are ever alike. Each varies in color, density, and grain — developing its own patina over time, its own unmistakable pattern.

Wood and gold first appeared together in precious and sacred objects. In ancient Egypt, wood served as a base, layered with gesso before gold leaf was applied — wood bringing volume and lightness, gold bringing luminosity, prestige, and the idea of eternity.
