🐧GAVi the Gull was spotted by DiGGY our Retreiver Wednesday. GAVi was struggling to hide on the chain link fenced edge of our condo property where it meets our beach here on the North East corner of Puerto Rico. With the proper coaching from ASHLEY - our contact in regard to helping this vulnerable bird, we captured GAVi and rested her safely in our bathroom tub atop several soft beach towels. Ashley came the next morning fetching GAVi and taking her to the Animal ( Manatee) Rescue Center in Bayamón 🇵🇷. There they reported that GAVi suffered malnutrition…. That center also reported that they just took in a Brown B***y (sea bird) with similar nutrición issues as well as a broken wing. They reported that this is a GLOBAL phenomenon and this year already 300 birds in the US alone have been taken in found vulnerable sitting on shores with no energy to fly or move. GLOBAL WARMING and POLLUTION are the source of this issue. Changing Ocean Temps. Declining Fish Stocks. Pollution. Pepe and I live here on this lush tropical island where nature is upon us every day. Without going into a RANT, there are solutions to these problems. How can we effectively solve this reality that if allowed to continue threatens so many wild species and the well being of our Natural Planet? Who is most responsible for the actual reasons this is happening? WE ARE. How do we wake up to and end our OVER CONSUMING that results in way more than necessary uncontrollable waste and pollution? How do we change the seduction to consume and move to MiNDFUL RESPONSiBLE daily life choices? GAVi is the messenger….
THINK about what the next generations have left. Humans are capable of such good things…THANK YOU Ashley and the fabulous humans at the Manotee Animal Rescue for doing all that you do!!! 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚🪶🪶🪶
