I’m so delighted to have my work included in SNAG’s Annual Juried Student Exhibition as part of SNAG x Detroit.
This exhibition highlights the diversity of students shaping the future of jewelry and metalsmithing on view both in Detroit and online. I’m sad I won’t be there, but excited to see the work online.

In my random and rare posts here I don’t think I’ve explained that I’m in graduate school! I’m an MFA candidate in Metal at SUNY New Paltz.

The program is excellent. I’m learning skills and techniques, studying art history and the contemporary art world, engaging in personal research and self-directed making, and connecting with my colleagues and the wider metalsmithing community. It’s intense and challenging and I absolutely love it. After 20+ years of making my living as a jeweler, I’m taking as much advantage as I can of this opportunity to explore new ideas and ways of working without worrying about successful outcomes. I’m making both jewelry and sculptural objects, some of them pretty strange! 😜

I don’t know what I’ll be making when I come out the other side, but I’m hopeful that it’ll be different and exciting. For now I thought I’d share a few snapshots from life in the studio over the last year.
