Our Story
Shereen Hamed is a world traveler and cultural influencer currently residing in Shenzhen, China. Shereen’s love of travel and fashion along with her admiration and respect for various cultures inspired her to create Shop Without Borders. As owner and buyer-at-large for ShopWithoutBorders.com, Shereen scours the world for eclectic clothing, accessories, furniture, and decorative objects. Her passion of finding "unique and handmade things" has led her to European flea markets and Moroccan antique fairs, unearthing hidden quirky gems that have a storied past. Shereen says that novelty is key when shopping for items so whether finding hand-embroidered clutches made by Palestinian village women or wallets repurposed from Turkish Kilim rugs, Shereen selects artistic and aesthetic items that tell the history of beloved cultures.
Originally from Palestine, Shereen grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and Miami, Florida. After graduating from Louisiana State University with her bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising and Design, Shereen then went on to pursue her master’s degree in Public Administration. Upon graduating, she took her career in a different direction for some time working a 9 to 5. In 2014, she decided she wanted to travel and quit her cubicle lifestyle. She sold everything and left America to explore the world.
Shereen has visited 13% of the world including Czech Republic, France, Turkey, Greece, Hungary, Cambodia, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Morocco, Ireland, Malaysia, Thailand, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Egypt, Indonesia and the Philippines.
While her favorite places to vacation have been Bali and Florence, Shereen continues to travel to new destinations where she can immerse herself in the culture. With her found objects, she wants to honor the history of these cultures.
