Before and After: a very nice Brannen flute in for an overhaul. Such a good build quality and a joy to work on. A good cleaning and polishing, and changing out all felts, corks and pads; this gets it back to, if not better than, the day it was born. Oddly enough with the pads ripped, it still sort of played! It definitely plays better now.

Putting the Labor in Labor Day! I don't know how you lose a rotor core and back bearing, but the previous tech did just that. The customer decided to replace the entire rotor unit with an Instrument Innovations rotor. It took some figuring out of what all needed to be modified, but I think the end result is good. Hope the owner is happy!

Before and After: a humpback trombone bell! Lots of geometry issues with this one. Straightened out the bell. Removed the valve section to replace the broken and missing braces. Fixed the last technician's poor geometry dealing with the tuning slide. Removed the hand slide end crook to remove the dents that also affected the hand slide tube geometry. It also had a thorough cleaning. I love how Weight's Copper polish evens out the finish!

Sometimes in manufacturing there are problems that are hard to see. I can't say for sure this will make the tuba play better. But, the worker that assembled this slide at the factory added just a tad too much solder. All fixed now!

Before and After: a Jupiter alto flute in for a COA. It's only a few years old and the owner didn't think it needed much. I hope she can tell just how hard she was working after the repairs. The leaks slowly creep in and as a player you intuitively just add a bit more finger pressure to make it play. Often, without thinking about it. If you think you might be working too hard to make your instrument play, you probably are. Contact your favorite repair person and get on their schedule. We work hard to play our instrument, we shouldn't have to work harder because of our instrument.

I replaced a couple of ripped pads and some minor dent work that I forgot to get pictures of. I hope it brings the owner joy to start playing again!

Before and After: this was a new Gemeinhardt model to me. Couldn't really find much info online other than it's an older model. A KGM Limited with a solid gold lip plate and riser and engraving. A good COA got it back in its best playing condition.
