It’s been days and it will take months and some places years to bring these areas of Nashville and the surrounding areas back. Everyone who has been effected really needs our help and will for a while. Thank you to all the people who I’ve met that have come from as far as even Pennsylvania!!! You have some of the biggest hearts I’ve ever met.
The stories of God’s goodness and angels that helped people during the tornados astounds me. Just one story to share with you from a beautiful woman in the projects called “Auntie” I met - she shares her porch at night with a homeless man. She said as the storm blew in she huddled in a corner in her bedroom. She heard knocking at her door and then the sound of a train. She got up and went downstairs to open her door as the sound of the train faded and noticed she didn’t have any furniture on her porch anymore. Her thoughts went immediately to the homeless man. As they searched for him they found him under the stairs. He said he knocked on several doors trying to get in and then something came and picked him up and pushed him under the stairs. He had a few scratches on him and that was it! I believe an angel picked him up, otherwise he would have been blown away with the tornado like everything else did.
People have been helping clean up, assisting others, feeding those still without electricity and homes, hotels have opened up rooms for people who lost their homes or haven’t had electricity since the tornados hit. Then there are all the police and NES/electricians I’ve met that have been working non stop since last Monday night trying to get electricity to people again and keeping everyone safe while they block off certain streets and areas. All are pitching in while everyone gets things back to a working order. The lines of cars that have food, supplies, clothing and the volunteers helping is astounding. The people of Nashville ARE NASHVILLE STRONG!
If you would like to help you can go to these websites I’ve been a part of Thebelonging.co and somebody cares.org.
