A wonderful weekend celebrating the Holiday season:

The girls annual Holiday luncheon at PF Chang’s. We had a fun time catching up and celebrating the spirit of the season.

Early evening we attended the New Mexico Gay Men’s Chorus production of “Heaven and Nature Sing”. This was an amazing selection of music created by everything around us:the earth, the skies, and even the living creatures that all combine to bring us the symphony of sound of the universe.

*****Our John- third row down, third from the right. These amazing singers rocked” the Highland theater!

My very latest book : I opened a drawer of geli print fabric pieces and found this wrinkled up piece of striped upholstery fabric that I had left wrinkled and just printed over. Voilà! The creative juices started flowing! I’m not a fan of white, so I sprayed some ink on the fabric here, and there to tone down what had been white underneath the jelly printing. I left all of the wrinkles increases in the fabric, string is hanging from the edges, reinforced the inside of the fabric which became the cover for this book.

I have a hard time working with colors that aren’t neutral: Beige, brown, rust, Slate,and earth tones are what I am comfortable with. I do venture off in other directions because I have this abundance of fabric from my company treasures of the gypsy.

So, to continue with this book, I added papers and fabric, little fabric bundles, envelopes, pockets to create this book.

You Only turn 80 years old once! My birthday celebration started out with a play day with some of the girls. At the Gypsy Raven Studio. We always have a great time on play days. At 5 PM we went over to the gypsy courtyard where we were joined by lots of friends. Ken was at the grill, and everyone brought delicious food for the occasion. Teresa Stoa and my husband Ken planned this whole party and they did a wonderful job. The theme of the party was Polynesian and there were pineapples and Hawaiian leis on all the tables. The highlight of the evening was a hula dance contest for the men and for the women. Jacques Dorier won the contest for the men and Katie Slater won the contest for the girls. Jacques Dorier entertained us with an hour concert of his latest music that he has written. It was a fun filled for me and all who attended.

Robyn McClendon comes to the Gypsy Raven Studio in Mountainair, New Mexico!

On Monday evening Gypsy Pamela Armas hosted a meet the teacher/ meet the students evening with great food prepared by Teresa Stoa, lots of fun, laughter, and stories shared by all. Our mayor Peter Nieto stopped by the class to welcome everyone to Mountainair.

On Tuesday and Wednesday Robyn put everyone to work teaching us a vast array of geli plate printing, mono printing and much more to create a fabulous book with the many creations that everyone made during class.

This was my second workshop experience with Robyn. She is the most informative teacher with so much to share. Her collected experiences and vibrant personality culminated in a wonderful teacher/ student experience.
