Winter is beautiful, but you need to know how to monitor horses to ensure they are healthy. Snow that is NOT melting is good as it means they are retaining heat. If heat escapes, the snow would melt.

The things I do for your horses 😂

Trailer is now up to 85° inside (15° outside). The last of the last poopsicles are finally thawing so I can wash the whole thing out then heat again to dry! The cleanliness of our trailers is unmatched; we pressure wash and sanitize EVERY trip no matter the weather. Hay nets are in the washer, buckets and snaps soaking in the bathtub… if it’s touched it gets cleaned and sanitized!! 🧼 🧽

Let’s talk horse TRAVEL tips! 🐎 🛻 💨

It’s the time of the year everyone is traveling with their horses so we thought we would share some of our tips!
Depending on the length of the trip some of these tips will not apply, if you have any of your own tips share them in the comments - it’s so beneficial to learn from each other👍🏼

⚪️ Make sure your horse is traveling with a full belly, and had access to fresh water before loading. We will feed a mash before long trips to get alittle extra hydration in.

🔴 Give your horses access to forage on the road - we hang hay nets so they can eat with heads low/relaxed.

🔵 Hay/debris/shavings will be blowing around while you are going down the road. A fly mask can provide some protection for your horse’s eyes.

🟢 Offer water through windows at stops while letting your horses rest.

🟣 Only unload at safe destinations if your planning to rest. To avoid any safety or loading issues we do not unload at gas stations during travel.

🔵 Make sure you have planned your route. A GPS will not know your traveling with a loaded trailer.

🟠 Have all the appropriate paperwork ready and up to date for your travels - crossing state lines will usually require a coggins & health certificate for each animal.

My $3k horses stand right alongside my $40k horses.
I’ve had a $500 horse go on to earn $100k.
I’ve watched a $35k horse become a $5k horse with one X-ray.
I owned a mare who earned $107k — and she was purchased for just $700.

Horses don’t know their price tag, and they don’t know what they’ve won.
But they absolutely know how you treat them.

There isn’t a single horse on my place that’s treated any differently than the others.
You can’t put a price on a soul.

Today, as I walked through my pastures,
I petted the noses of horses whose owners failed them.
I petted the noses of horses who could have been winners, had they ever been given the chance.
And I also get to pet the winners.

Today, I kissed the noses of colts who could become winners one day —
if their people help them reach their full potential.

Horses don’t understand dollar value.
But they know if you love them, and if you believe in them.
Feed them well — and they’ll feed your soul right back.
