I was NOT expecting to find this at the airport. 😍

"Florida Sunset" by Jason Middlebrook is an absolutely jaw-dropping mural at Tampa International Airport, created with stained glass and mosaic tile.

The colors. The details. The textures. That sunset background. 🌅

And then you notice the flowers, insects, and Snowy Egret tucked into all that color.

Public art like this is exactly why I love looking around when I'm traveling. You never know what you're going to find.

My favorite mosaic tool isn't actually a mosaic tool. 😄

These little project trays have become an essential part of my creative process. I use them to sort colors, compare materials, keep my work area tidy, and quickly find the perfect piece while I'm working.

And honestly? Seeing all those colorful pieces spread out in front of me just makes me happy.

Do you have an unexpected tool that you can't create without?

Every. Single. Time. 😂👏

You place that final piece and suddenly you're expecting a stadium full of people to start cheering.

Please tell me I'm not the only one.

Makers, artists, crafters, DIYers…what project did you recently finish that deserved a standing ovation? 😂

And yes, those ridiculously long tweezers are doing some serious work over here. 👀

Consider this your reminder that creative time doesn't have to be measured in hours. ❤️

Ten minutes counts.

A few minutes of making can be enough to quiet the noise, get your hands moving, and reconnect you with the thing you love to do.

You don't have to finish the project. You don't even have to make much progress.

Just show up.

Make the art. Plant the flowers. Take the photos. Bake the thing. Play the music. Whatever fills your bucket, give yourself a little sliver of time for it.

Your future self will thank you. 🍂

Some people see Christmas ornaments.

I see future mosaic pieces. 😂

These little glass beauties are headed into storage until the day I decide they’ve served their purpose as ornaments in their current state and are ready for their second life as tiny pieces of art on new ornaments.

Totally normal. Nothing to see here. 😏

Boston Public Library, but make it architectural eye candy. 👀

The Dartmouth Street entrance to the historic McKim Building is STUNNING...and as soon as I spotted the vaulted mosaic ceiling, I was done. 😂

The mosaic incorporates the names of notable Massachusetts citizens, many of whom you'll recognize from American history.

And then I noticed the floor…

Brass zodiac symbols set into the marble. 🐏✨

As a mosaic artist, I'm pretty sure I'm genetically incapable of walking past something like this without stopping to inspect it.

There is SO much to see in this building.

And yes…this is your reminder to look up. And occasionally look down. 😉

Anyone else have a collection of supplies that looks completely normal to them but slightly questionable to everyone else? 😂

Creative people know the truth: today's scraps are tomorrow's brilliant idea.

Tell me I'm not the only one.

There’s just something about seeing something you made become part of your everyday life. ❤️

It’s a coaster.

It holds a glass of water.

It sits quietly on a side table.

But every time I use it, there’s that tiny little 'Yep. I made that.'

And honestly? That never gets old.

➡️ What’s something you made that you use everyday and brings you joy?

There’s a particular kind of confidence that comes with saying, “Oh, I have PLENTY of time.”

And then suddenly it’s December.

Handmade gifts have a funny way of doing that.

The idea sounds simple: make a few beautiful mosaic ornaments for Christmas. But then there’s choosing the design, finding the right substrate, gathering materials, cutting pieces, assembling everything, finishing the backs, signing your work, adding the hanger…

And suddenly that “little project” has become a whole project. 😂

That’s why I’m encouraging you to start working on your Christmas ornaments now….yes, in August.

Make a little progress on your mosaics month-by-month because wouldn’t you rather spend December enjoying the holidays than frantically finishing ornaments at midnight?

Who else is making handmade gifts this year? 🎄
