Shiny Objects by Michele

Shiny Objects by Michele Handmade jewelry using rare stones, fossils & shells. My passion is creating jewelry that elevates nature’s creations into wearable art.

www.shinyobjectsmichele.com Creatively, my jewelry is inspired by the stone, shell, fossil or other natural object and the metal itself. I am endlessly intrigued by objects found in nature - a shell on the beach or a rock on a path is an amazing treasure to me. I've been collecting rocks and shells all my life - handfuls in my pockets and scattered throughout the house. Now it all makes sense - my

collecting had a purpose all along! The collecting has turned into a fascination with transforming those objects into jewelry. I learned basic bead stringing and wire work from local jewelers while living in Turkey & Greece. Over the years I've taken many classes to further my knowledge - metalsmithing, wirework, enameling and recently lapidary. I am inspired by the beach and spend many days combing Rehoboth Beach, DE for things that want another life as wearable art. You will notice recurring themes in my work - shells, stars, fossils, labradorite, pyrite & druzy - I am obsessed! I have an inner voice that drives me to find creative ways to elevate these simple stones, shells and fossils into jewelry - enabling the wearer to enjoy the object and at the same time, express their own unique personal style. The wearer becomes the frame for the jewelry and the jewelry also frames the wearer! Custom orders encouraged.

Chunky Aquamarine Doublet with Mother of Pearl. I love making doublets with translucent stones. This one has an amazing glow! Do you see the rainbow?! 🌈

This necklace found a home this past weekend at the Rehoboth Art League Outdoor Show along with a pair of Golden Hill Turquoise & Opal Earrings (swipe for a pic) that somehow matched perfectly even though the stones are all different. I’m so glad she plans to wear them together as I pictured in my head as I was making them. In fact, she walked off wearing the set…made my day! I love my Shiny People.

Thank you to all the Shiny People who came out to visit me at Rehoboth Art League the past two weekends! It was a hot one, but so much fun. I definitely get energized from talking with you and feeling the love for my Shinies. I appreciate each and every one of you.

Thank you to Rehoboth Art League (RAL) and the volunteers who work so hard to support the artists. You help us to live our dream. Your efforts don’t go unnoticed.

Thank you to my hubby, Paul, who does the heavy lifting (literally). I couldn’t do it without your support. We had fun in Rehoboth as always. Got to spend some beach time and even saw a Pink Floyd cover band at the Bandstand (they were great!).

See you soon - My next beach event is the Bethany Beach Boardwalk show on Sept 12! Oh and the DAC Rehoboth Creative Market on 8/31!
