Life demanded I take a break from things, and invest my time in doing on projects for me for a while. Closed the shop on Etsy because costs were becoming an issue. But I am planning on still bring at Arts in the Park come July.
Working on trying a pincushion pattern today since its too rainy to be in the garden.

Gorgeous, isn't it?
That's a quart of Peach Pie Cordial, racked and bottled this morning, about to go into the pantry to age for a few more months. Sweet, juicy, summer ripe peaches, fresh ginger, and cinnamon.
It's already sooo tasty, we may not be able to wait.

We hit the saturation point of not being able to eat tomatoes as fast as we were bringing them in from the garden, and something had to be done.
My kitchen counter is a tomato-scented disaster area right now, but there are four 2 cup bags of crushed garden tomatoes in my freezer right now just begging to be added to chili come those cold winter evenings.

Purchased some seed varieties the other day, they came in the mail yesterday, and this morning I went out and planted a few of the shorter season cool weather ones already. A short row of beets, a short row of turnips, and 3x each of the very large korean radishes.
They may not get quite all the way grown before the frosts hit, but baby veggies and greens are just as yummy.

Tomatoes are coming in heavy. We had blt's for lunch yesterday with just one of the huge cherokee purples. YUM! And squash flowers everywhere! I already have one spaghetti squash curing on the deck.

Another grey, damp, and dreary day here at the Nest. All this rain the past few days is making my poor heirloom tomatoes crack.
Cucumbers are about picked out for the year, but I did FINALLY get my first heirloom zucchini, with another baby one and tons of flowers out there. It's a shame the first planting didn't take, but at least we'll get to enjoy some.
Brought two gorgeous eggplants in today, and I'm thinking that they will need to be combined with the purple tomatoes and the squash into a glorious late summer ragout with penne pasta.

Getting my pickle on this morning. Refrigerator pickles, that is. A couple jars of garlicky dill, and at least one jar of hot pickles with fresh jalapeno slices.

And Battle of the Bean is over here in the Garden Stadium, as this episode of Iron Gardener America comes to a close...
Sorry, we've been binge watching Iron Chef America every evening while we eat dinner the last couple weeks.
Sadly, Alton Brown was narrating as I picked the last of the green beans and pulled the plants out to make room for a row of fall crops. But this is the last of them.
Not bad, not bad!
Even the teeny tiny little baby beans will get used. I like to toss them into a stir fry.

Drinking coffee and trimming beans to length for Dilly Beans on this lazy Sunday. :)
