When the need for a Yahrzeit or Yizkor remembrance arises, or you wish to celebrate an occasion or an event, browse our photos to find the perfect piece of Judaica Art to commemorate with. Here I was about to honor the memory of my dear father and this candle was going to be used to commemorate the occasion, was a candle that I could only describe as “ugly”. In our synagogues, temples and in our h
omes, we strive to beautify the symbols of our heritage, beautiful Torahs, the silver adornments, the Aron, the Challah cover, the Shabbes candleabra, the list goes on. Should not the act of kindling the flame of remembrance be a comforting and heartwarming tradition? Can it not be as a constant reminder and help in keeping the connection? Why then this unattractive little candle to celebrate the love & honor of a deceased loved one. This was the start of an exciting journey… to design yahrzeit lamps that would be used for generations, that would become a family heirloom. The design would use the clarity, depth and reflectivity of crystal glass, combined at times with Jerusalem stone, the enduring symbol of our strength & heritage. Accompanying me on this journey and providing not only moral support, is Bunny, my wife, who provides all the business & marketing acumen. Without her, I would still be standing at the supermarket aisle contemplating that unappealing candle. As I ventured into the crafting of ceremonial Judaica, I felt the pieces should not only be practical and I hope beautiful, but it should be able to tell a story. The symbolism contained in the art will reflect our heritage, our identity, our unity. I hope that our endeavors bring you joy, nostalgia and above all, comfort. Jerry Rosenbloom (Yaacov ben Shifra)
