Desert Light Sapphire - yes, these are sapphires! Can you believe it?
Sapphire is a corundum mineral and trace elements introduced during formation cause the color. The more iron introduced the darker blue you get. Chromium makes the sapphire pink.

This Friday, we stand with the nationwide general strike. Across the country, people are refusing business as usual to protest the terror ICE is inflicting on our communities and to stand in solidarity with Minnesota. Chocolate and Steel online shop will be closed and we are pausing all marketing.

Communities are living in fear. We have lost so much — and this has to change.

We still have power. The power of the purse. The power to pause, to withhold, to make it clear that this administration is here to serve the people, not harm them.

At Chocolate and Steel, people come first — and standing for human dignity is inseparable from the work we do.

This is me talking honestly about the reality of running a small business in a volatile market.

I’m recalculating costs across all of my collections, and some of them are no longer profitable to produce. Material and production costs have increased fast—and that means changes are coming.

I don’t have all the answers yet.
The one thing I do know is that prices will be going up.

If there’s a piece you’ve been thinking about, now is the time to get it. I’m committed to staying transparent and making thoughtful decisions as I move forward. Thank you for supporting small, independent work.
