Many people know my dad, Dwight Roberts, for his groundbreaking career as one of the pioneers of modern special effects and animatronics. His work helped shape the industry we know today and brought countless creatures and characters to life on the big screen.
But what many people don’t know is that he was also an extraordinary sculptor and artist.
Growing up, I had the privilege of watching him create in ways that still amaze me. He taught me metalsmithing, lost-wax casting, chase and repoussé, and most importantly, he taught me how to truly see beauty in the world around us.
His sculptures were unlike anything I’ve ever seen. He would combine precious metals, high quality minerals, crystals, fossils, and natural elements into otherworldly works of art. Every piece was meticulously handcrafted and inspired by his love of nature, history, storytelling, and adventure.
He didn’t just make art.
He brought imagination to life.
Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing some of his sculptures, behind-the-scenes photos, and parts of his creative process because I truly believe his artwork deserves to be seen and celebrated just as much as the films he helped create.
Everything I know as an artist began with him. Every piece I make carries a little bit of what he taught me, and I will forever be grateful for the countless hours he spent encouraging me, teaching me, and believing in me.
Right now, our family is walking through one of the hardest seasons of our lives as my dad battles cancer. If you’d like to read more about his incredible life or support our family during this time

Over the past few months, many of you may have noticed that I’ve been quieter than usual and I wanted to share why.
My dad has been battling cancer, and after unexpected complications from a recent surgery, our family learned that our time with him may be much shorter than we ever imagined.
If you’ve followed my work for any length of time, you’ve probably noticed my love for rocks, minerals, fossils, and the natural world. That passion didn’t start with me, it started with my dad.
Some of my favorite memories are of the two of us out on adventures together, rockhounding in the desert, searching for hidden treasures, and learning to appreciate the incredible beauty that nature has to offer. Those moments shaped not only who I am as an artist, but who I am as a person.
My dad is also an incredibly talented artist. He was one of the pioneers in the special effects and animatronics industry, helping pave the way for the practical effects we still admire today. But to me, he has always been my teacher.
He taught me everything I know about metalsmithing and lostwax casting. He taught me to create with my hands, to solve problems, to dream big, and to never stop learning. Every piece I make carries a little bit of what he taught me.
As our family spends this precious time together, my focus has been exactly where it needs to be, with him. If you’ve been waiting on new work, messages, or updates, I hope this helps explain why.
My sister and I have created a GoFundMe to help our family focus on caring for our dad and spending every moment we can with him. If you feel moved to support us, whether by donating, sharing the fundraiser, or simply keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers, it would mean more than we could ever express.
Thank you for supporting not only my art over the years, but also the people and experiences that inspired it in the first place.
More than anything, thank you for giving me the time and grace to be a daughter right now.

These necklaces were created as a tribute to the women in my family and the bond we share, inspired by the woman who held us all together. My grandmother. đź’•They were meant to be more than jewelry; they are heirloom pieces that carry love, connection, and legacy.
Each necklace features a natural pink tourmaline, chosen to reflect my grandmother’s strength, beauty, and grace. With her passing last week, these pieces hold even deeper meaning. She was the true matriarch of our family. Someone whose love and presence shaped us all.💕Each necklace was handmade be me and created to be cherished for generations to come, serving as a timeless reminder of the family bond my grandmother so beautifully built. She will be missed deeply. I hope to make her proud.❤️
