The name itself translates to “wealthy crown” from the Nigerian language, Yoruba. Ten years ago, Lola Ade started with a simple idea: a diamond necklace made with intention.

When our founder started researching how diamonds were sourced, one thing in particular stopped her in her tracks: the definition of “conflict-free.”

Conflict-free doesn’t necessarily mean responsibly sourced. It specifically refers to diamonds that aren’t funding armed conflict against the government, but the term doesn’t tell the whole story about how a diamond was sourced or what happened along the way.

That discovery changed the way we thought about jewelry.

It’s why, from the beginning, we’ve been intentional about where we source our pieces and who we source them from.
