Happy Birthday Grandfather, Coleman Howard, Sr.
I post this on the same day that we mourn and grieve with Tyre Lyles' family, friends and loved ones. Tyre's tragic, unjustifiable murder will spark outrage and cries for justice for decades to come. Tyre's black life matters.
Racist behavior in the United States of America makes no sense.
Our ancestors fought and died to eradicate it, yet it remains.
In honor of my Grandfather and black men like Tyre, I acknowledge this day with hope that one day we REALLY will live in peaceful solidarity, unity and dignity, with all mankind---without preference for the color of our skin.
Happy Black Legacy Month!
Legacies Last...
My Grandfather, Coleman Howard, Sr. was born 126 years ago on February 1, 1897. It is an honor to recognize that He was an African American patriot who served in World War I, including a tour to France.
He married and raised his family before and during the Civil Rights Movement. He worked hard; owned his property, and he lived by high standards, principles, and morals.
Grandfather's footprints are alongside other proud pioneers' who paved the way for outstanding black achievements now recorded for time and for eternity.
Welcome to Black "Legacy" Month!
