This is a fun little statement ring. Sometimes I play in the studio just to remember how to form and solder 🤣. The band was a gift, it is cast gold and originally designed to hold a coin. I’m not a coin-ring person, so I formed a small sterling dome, soldered it to the prongs, and added a ring of beaded sterling wire.
Honestly, I’m surprised I stopped where I did.

I might still treat this as a tiny 3D wearable “exquisite corpse” and just keep adding to it… or should I leave it alone? 🤣

Still torchless at home, but very grateful I can rent studio time here in Maryland.

in the making? 🤣

Well, Hello There Jeweler's Bench
While I’m navigating limited access to a torch in my studio practice, I’m grateful for the ability to rent bench space as needed—handling prep and finishing work at home, and making the trip for torch work as needed.

Since my last post, my hands have been busy shaping objects rather than words, with new earrings tumbling—soon to be polished and shared online.

Even during a pause in my studio practice, inspiration remains close at hand. I spend my days sketching new designs, collecting intriguing stones, and jotting down ideas in my journal. When I return to my workbench, these creative sparks come to life as new jewelry pieces.

While I take a break from making jewelry to focus on design, I'm also working to refine my product photography and update my website. Even with tutorials, quality equipment, and good lighting, achieving the crisp white backgrounds typical in the jewelry industry remains a challenge. Though these clean backgrounds help the jewelry stand out, I sometimes worry they diminish the distinctive character of each piece. Striking the right balance—a backdrop that supports my concepts without distraction—continues to be a rewarding creative puzzle.

Lately, I’ve been experimenting with different backgrounds for photographing my small-scale recycled metal jewelry line, . One setup features an antique glass marble with “iron stones”—likely iron oxide concretions I collected from Chesapeake Bay beaches. These elements introduce subtle storytelling and texture to my images, reflecting my interests in material culture and found natural objects, and infusing each photo with the overarching spirit of my work.

My pieces are born at the intersection of land and water, shaped by the stories of stone, erosion, and time. Each creation is a tribute to landscapes—real, remembered, or imagined. Where are the places inspire you?

Meet the Maker

I am a studio jeweler who lives and works in Hyattsville, Maryland. My processes for creating jewelry purposely flit between the traditional and the experimental as I seek to adorn the fashionably modern. I design ever-evolving limited production jewelry. No two items will ever be exactly the same as each item is handmade using traditional and modern techniques.

My designs often illustrate a variation on a theme using new and recycled sterling silver, new and recycled karat gold, gemstones, and Tyvek. I seek to create jewelry to evoke a feeling of adventures had and adventures planned, as a symbol of anywhere to remind you of your somewhere so that you can carry that life-affirming spark into other settings - the office, an evening event, or daily errands. Sometimes all it takes is that one piece of jewelry to remind you of fleeting moments and the feeling of knowing yourself, your world, and finding the way you fit into everything.
