After Dark Jewelry

After Dark Jewelry After Dark Jewelry: Antiqued Romantic Victorian Jewelry, Aged Renaissance and Medieval Relics, Art Nouveau Accessories and Pre Raphaelite inspired delights!

Welcome, fellow lovers of history, literature, costume and drama! Whether you are a recent fan of the latest historical television series or a seasoned member of a reenactment group, all who visit my shop seem to share a common passion: historically inspired jewelry! I specialize in accessories which walk the line between worlds -- jewelry that is designed to be worn with modern attire, yet also r

eflects the romantic spirit of ages past. Wearing a small taste of history with me throughout the day, even if it is with my favorite pair of comfy jeans, makes my soul sing! I possess a wandering bohemian heart, and sometimes blend elements from two or three eras or realms. In addition, I also create custom tiaras, crowns and jewelry for reenactors, historical costume, film, weddings, fantasy cosplay, and special events. I am devoted to preserving and protecting our planet's natural resources. I make every effort to ensure I am utilizing techniques and practices that are environmentally sound, both at home and in the studio. When wildlife is showcased in my work they are found insects which were previously discarded by others or have expired naturally in the wild. All of the gift packaging I use is made from 100% recycled paper, and packages are sent in eco friendly, biodegradable packaging. I do not wish to contribute to the loss of our natural resources but serve as a means to celebrate the glorious natural world which surrounds us.

It has been such a spell since I've last posted... Life has called me away from Facebook and into motherhood; oh, what a year it has been! I thought it appropriate to make my return on this glorious Autumnal Equinox by posting an image of a wee harvest of my own -- my sweet new son, Rivyn. We are so very fortunate to have a stone circle near home to celebrate the changing of the seasons: Kinstone . I've missed my community of fellow Medieval & Renaissance enthusiasts and am so pleased to be back on the scene! There have been huge changes with regard to my jewelry business -- I've changed its name! So, in fact, I have two introductions to make: please meet Rabbitwood & Reason -- I will continue my posts on my new page and place all forthcoming updates there as well, so please come say hello and send a hug to me at my new facebook home: facebook.com/rabbitwoodandreason . Sending warmth and happy harvests to all.

Jane Morris was swept into the Pre-Raphaelite world at age eighteen.  She was La Belle Iseult to William Morris, who declared “I cannot paint you; but I love you”.  Then she was Pandora, Mnemosyne, Astarte Syriaca and other assorted goddesses to Dante Gabriel Rossetti.  And years later, after the Pr...

Fun with heraldry! One of my lovely gifts from B this holiday season was a beautifully illustrated book on the history of knights: http://www.amazon.com/Knights-History-Legend-Constance-Bouchard/dp/1554074800/ref=sr_1_8?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1389381107&sr=1-8&keywords=knights+history
This enjoyable book has rekindled my interest and amusement in the whimsical world of heraldic art.

Unicorn cookbook, anyone? My first inclination is to rescue that poor wee babe from the clutches of the fiery pages which entomb him. I'll save you! -- As sad as this sight is, the book is a remarkable historical find.

Thanks to Medieval Manuscripts and Food Through Time for posting.

A long-lost medieval cookbook, containing recipes for hedgehogs, blackbirds and even unicorns, has been discovered at the British Library. Professor Brian Trump of the British Medieval Cookbook Project described the find as near-miraculous. "We've been hunting for this book for years. The moment I f...

These tender photos from a recent and beautiful bride remind me of the small role I am so fortunate to play in the lives and memories of my clientele. A lovely piece of bridal jewelry carries an endless amount of sentimental value; thank you for giving me the opportunity to create these pieces for and with you, My Dear.
