I think qualities like strength get passed down through generations before us.

Many of us are actually very tender & soft at our core. But I think the very qualities we inherit become the exact tools we need to create the life we truly want.

It may not always be ideal but it’s still something to be proud of & to fully honor.

My mom had me when she was 19. At the time, she was facing addiction, a toxic relationship, & pain that had followed her from childhood.

In the midst of barely surviving she did her best to care for me in the way she knew how.

As a child, I didn’t fully understand it. All I knew was that life felt CRAZY & really unsafe.

Now as a woman, I understand it differently.

Watching my mom fight to survive shaped how I see womanhood. It showed me how much women can carry while still trying to love, nurture, & keep going.

I think women go through so much day in & day out. We carry pain, responsibility, shame, expectations & often still show up for everyone around us.

Many of us were taught that being strong meant enduring EVERYTHING.

I truly believe that womanhood was never meant to be about barely surviving. I believe safety, softness, & being supported should be a part of every woman’s story. This what Bare Culture is about.

My mom’s survival, strength, and everything she endured shaped so much of how I move through womanhood & ultimately Bare Culture.

Girl… as if we haven’t seen them all 🤪🤣

When I look at my mom, all I see is a woman of pure strength. Not because she wanted to be but because she had to be.

She was the middle child of 3 raised by a single mother. My grandma was a career woman doing her best to keep a household afloat while raising kids on her own. But when you’re trying to carry everything at once, sometimes something slips through the cracks.

In this case, it was my mom.

She was left in the care of a family friend. & within that “help,” she was wounded. Abused.

That pain turned into protection.
That protection became survival.
& that survival became the strength i inherited from her.

My mom’s strength taught me how to build. But it also taught me how important it is for women to have spaces where they can put the armor down. Even if it’s just for a moment- they can simply exist here. Be cared for here. Be in their softness here. 💙

Watching my Grandmother care for community through helping women bring life into the world & supporting families through grief became a foundational piece of why I’m good at being a waxer.

She taught me the simplest acts of service become the thread that holds people together.

I think witnessing her compassion at such a young age shaped the way I exist in the world now. Compassion creates space for less judgment, more softness, & deeper presence.

That’s what Bare Culture truly represents to me. A space where women can feel safe to simply be human.

My grandmother’s compassion became part of the blueprint for Bare Culture & it’s something I carry with me in everything I do.
If you’d like to hear the full version of my grandmother’s story, The Legacy Project: PT. 1 is officially live on YouTube 💙

This story means so much to me & gives deeper insight into the women who shaped the heart behind Bare Culture.

My grandmother was the first born daughter of a Chinese single mother. Between being a daughter + a big sis, caregiving became her identity.

& she carried that role for the rest of her life.

She became a single mother of 3, then a grandmother, all while caring for others in the community. I watched her help women birth babies, sit beside grieving families, and pour herself endlessly into people who needed love.

She was one hell of a caregiver.
& she was proud of it.

In her later years, I watched her become sick & treat her pain like it wasn’t important. Even while her health declined, she still put everyone else’s needs before her own.

I often wonder what would her life have looked like if she gave herself the same care she gave the rest of us?

This part of my grandmother’s story became one of the driving forces behind Bare Culture.

Because everyday I witness women pouring endlessly into everyone around them while running on E.

Self-care goes far beyond beauty.
It’s choosing to believe your wellbeing matters.

My grandmother’s story represents so many women who love so deeply, they forget they deserve that same care too.

Here’s to you. 💙

The Legacy Project Part 1 premieres on YouTube Friday, May 15.

The Legacy Project is something I hold close to my heart. 💙

I’ve been working on this storytelling project since Oct 2025. It’s a project to honor the women who came before me- my mother & my grandma. Their story, sacrifices, strength, & compassion… all of it lives within me.

With May being the month for Mother’s Day & today being my Grandmother’s birthday, it felt like the right time to finally share it with you all.

My why behind Bare Culture has always gone far beyond waxing. It’s an ode to the women who endured so much for their families & communities while often forgetting to pour back into themselves along the way.

This project is for them…. For us.For the women who survived.& for the women now learning that they deserve care too. ✨
The Legacy Project will be told in 3 parts & at the end of each week, the full version of that chapter will be available on YouTube.

This project is very meaningful to me & I hope you all feel that while watching it.

Big shoutout to .hi , .media , & for helping me bring The Legacy Project to life. 🤍

Motherhood is such a critical role to humanity. In all its glory, we have the power to nurture our households in a way that can literally change the world.

The love we pour into our homes becomes a gift to our communities. Our children learn how to love & care and then they carry that out into the world.

Motherhood teaches us strength, compassion, & forgiveness. It forces us to take a hard look at ourselves. To really see our wounds, patterns, and everything we’re truly capable of.

It’s our edge & our softness.
Our power & our tenderness.

We are the blueprint for love in future generations while healing the generations that came before us. 💕

This is no easy feat but it’s definitely the most rewarding.

Sending love to every mother, stepmother, & every woman who stepped in + loved like a mother.

Happy Mother’s Day. One day can’t even begin to encompass the celebration you all truly deserve. 💐
Shoutout to my mom & grandma for giving me the compassion & strength I needed to be the best version of me. 💕

The fact that surprises people the most about me is the fact that I’m 40 years old with a 21 year old son. I look way younger than my age and I’d like to say it’s because I keep a youthful spirit. 😉

I’m curious… what’s something about you that always surprises people?

04/20/2026

It really be like that though. We take so much pride in what we do! & the best part about it is…. You are the muse! 😻

As your waxer, I beg to differ… respectfully 😌 I know you like the back of your own hand- every crevice, crack, & secret 😜
