Our Kahuku community and surrounding communities have banded together for the last 10 years to oppose Industrial Monster Wind Turbines from being erected just 1,650 ft away from our homes, Elementary School, and High School. 8 Turbines each 568ft tall (the biggest structures in Hawaii and the largest Turbines in the US near a residential area). The community and our district politicians have been fighting to end this project by Virginia Based company AES. We are asking for Green Energy to be practiced and utilized responsibly. These turbines are killing our ecosystem and endangered animals, we are at risk from harmful Infrasound, and our property values will plummet. We peacefully protested. Help us get national attention as we DEMAND for Green Energy to be implemented RESPONSIBLY and not at the cost of residents and our precious ecosystem! PC: Carlos Mozo @ Kahuku, Hawaii

These are some of the Legal Hurdles AES Nā Pua Makani are facing. These hurdles are concerning to the community and some are based as to why we are opposed to wind turbines. Mahalo to Gina Mangieri for doing this report!! Mahalo to Senator Gil Riviere for recognizing this issue and contesting it ✊🏽🦇. Please share!

T O N I G H T. Kahuku needs your help. Help us stand up and unite as we make our voices heard against 8 Monster Wind Turbines. Green Energy shouldn’t come at the cost of the people, endangered indigenous species, and the ecosystem. The community and surrounding communities have opposed this for the last 10 years. 🦇✊🏽

The residents of Kahuku are saying ‘A’ole to more wind turbines in our community. There are currently 12 wind turbines in a community of 2,300 people. AES Nā Pua Makani Wind Farm is set to put up 8 Monster Turbines each 568 ft tall. These turbines will be closer than the current turbines to the community, Kahuku Elementary, and Kahuku High School. They will be 1,648ft from from residential homes and 1,700 ft from the both schools. They will also be an alarming 760 ft away from farmers land and their residential homes. They are causing residents in the community to have headaches, migraines, nausea, vertigo, they effect those with epilepsy to have seizures caused by the shadow flicker, etc. These turbines are also killing our Endangered ‘Ōpe’ape’a (Hawaiian Hoary Bat) - Hawaii’s official state land mammal. We as a community ARE for Green Energy, but wind turbines in our area are not green. ‘A’OLE AES! ‘A’OLE Wind Turbines! ‘A’OLE NĀ PUA MAKANI!

Over 20,000 Kama’aina marched through the streets of Waikīkī in Unity for Aloha ‘Āina. There was so much mana radiating out of everyone and being received by bystanders along Ala Moana and Kalākaua ... in hotels and on the streets. Our messages were seen and our stances heard. My ‘Ohana and I along with our community brought awareness of Monster Wind Turbines that are set to be erected in Kahuku this week. There will be 8 turbines each 568ft tall (taller than any turbine and building in Hawaii). They are killing the endangered Hawaiian Hoary Bat (‘Ōpe’ape’a), Nēnē, and Pueo- amongst other things. They are not Pono and don’t create enough renewable energy in an efficient matter. It’s all about the money. Kahuku says ‘A’ole Turbines!!!! @ Kahuku, Hawaii

Saying my prayers for our people and our Mauna. I want so bad to stand with our lāhui and Kia’i right now, but have motherly duties and life obligations 😔. We took our Hae Hawaii all the way with us to Germany and packed it in a bag to Tanzania- to fly high with us proudly on the Top of Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest peak. We stand with the Mauna 💯✊🏽🙏🏽. Until the last Aloha ‘Āina.

Road Closed until TMT moves on elsewhere. ALOHA ✌🏽. 🔺️

Reflections from Mauna a Wākea: Many have sacrificed so much to fight for the Mauna. Many have spoken up and let their voices be heard. Some... many.. may roll their eyes at activist. I feel like the word “activist” has a negative connotation sometimes. But being on the Mauna and seeing all the Kia’i... all the protectors standing up for land, culture, history, and righteousness, really makes you realize that without these activist- without the radicals - where would we be today? If none of these “activist” did their research, go to community meetings, petition, etc... the Hawaiian culture would probably be a past time memory of hula dancers in Waikiki. It’s so much more than that. So Mahalo to all the Kia’i and the Kia’i who paved the way 🙏🏽💙✊🏽🔺 # @ Mauna Kea
