Apparently, we need to talk about the elephant in the room.

Or the AI-generated horse in the room. Whatever. 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes. A lot of Moon + Mountain's marketing graphics are created with the help of AI lately.

You know what isn't?

✨The keepsakes.✨

AI isn't sitting at my desk.

AI isn't washing and sorting your horse's hair.

AI isn't braiding it strand by strand.

AI isn't threading beads, working with resin, attaching clasps, fixing the braid I screwed up halfway through (again), or crawling around on the floor looking for the microscopic jump ring that I just dropped for the sixth time. 🙃

AI doesn't read the stories you send me about the horse whose hair I'm holding.

AI doesn't understand why that little bundle of tail hair sitting on my desk is absolutely priceless to the person who trusted me with it.

I DO.

Every bracelet, necklace, keychain, dream catcher, ornament, and keepsake that leaves Moon + Mountain is made by my very real hands, at my very real workbench, using hair from very real horses who are very, very loved. 🖤

The pretty picture that got your attention on Facebook?

Yeah. AI helped me make it.

The keepsake that arrives at your door?

100% handmade.
100% real.
100% Moon + Mountain.

And frankly, if AI can handle some of the marketing so I can spend more time at my workbench making the things you actually hired me to make...

I'm pretty okay with that. 🤭

Every horse has a story to tell.

AI might help me advertise it—but these hands are the ones preserving it. 🐴🌙

Just a reminder...

Dream Catchers take me 6-8 weeks to create from the day I receive your horse's hair, NOT from the day you order! 🤭

So just keep that in mind as Christmas looms over us on the shelves at Hobby Lobby and Walmart already. 🙃

Okay, y'all. I have a question. 😂🥹

I have gotten SO MANY messages this week asking about having keepsakes made.

"What can you make with this?"
"How much would this cost?"
"Can you do something like this?"
"How do I send you the hair?"
"Can you make one for me?"

And every single time I'm over here like:

YES. YES I CAN. PLEASE LET ME MAKE THE PRETTY THING. 😭😂

But somehow, despite all of these conversations...

gestures toward order notifications 🫴🏼

🦗

Crickets.

So now I'm genuinely curious: what's stopping you from actually placing the order? 🤷🏼‍♀️

And I mean that sincerely! Is it price? Are you waiting for payday? Does the ordering process feel confusing? Are you nervous about mailing your horse's hair? Are you still deciding what you want? Did life happen and you completely forgot?

Because if there's something creating a barrier between "I really want one!" and "ORDER PLACED!", I want - no, NEED to know.

Moon + Mountain is a very small business, and feedback like this genuinely helps me figure out what I could be doing better.

So tell me. 👀

What's keeping you from hitting that order button?

No judgment. No pressure. I promise not to throw horse hair at you.

Probably. 🤭🐴🖤

I have been sharing a lot of AI content lately, I know, and there is a TON of social stigma surrounding AI...

B-U-T...

I am one person doing all of this *gestures vaguely* and I don't have nearly enough orders coming in to be able to pay someone with talent and an art degree to act as my marketing department. 🙃

I'm the artist, photographer, jewelry maker, horse-hair untangler, customer service department, social media manager, website person, shipping department, accountant, and occasionally the person staring blankly into a cup of coffee wondering what day it is. 🥴

AI gives me a way to create some of the marketing content I otherwise simply wouldn't have the time, money, or skillset to create.

Would I LOVE to reach a point where Moon + Mountain makes enough money for me to hand a talented human artist a paycheck and say, "Here. Make pretty things for me"?

ABSOLUTELY.

But small businesses don't magically arrive at that point.

They need support to get there. 🖤

So if you'd really love to see me hire human artists instead of using AI for some of my marketing...

Well.

You know where the order button is. 🤭😂

Until then, "Gloria Paloma Torres" and I have work to do. 💅🏼

🚨 MOON + MOUNTAIN STAFFING UPDATE 🚨

Effective immediately, Oliver has been promoted to Head of Feline Resources. 🐈📋

This position was created following an alarming increase in workplace complaints regarding our current Quality Control Specialist, Mika.

You may remember that Mika recently appointed herself head of Quality Control here at Moon + Mountain...

Unfortunately, her definition of “quality control” seems to include:

🐾 Grabbing horse hair directly out of management’s hands
🐾 Attempting to personally inspect every single strand
🐾 Climbing employees during working hours (OW, by the way)
🐾 Interfering with production
🐾 General workplace harassment
🐾 Being suspiciously cute while committing all of the above

Management has attempted verbal warnings. Management has attempted redirection. Management has said, “MIKA. FUGGIN' STOP.” approximately 847 times.

Nothing has worked.

So Oliver has stepped in. 😎🤙🏼

As Head of Feline Resources, Oliver’s responsibilities now include supervising Mika, investigating employee complaints, enforcing appropriate horse hair-handling procedures, and administering disciplinary baps as necessary.

As you can see from the photographic evidence, he has already conducted Mika’s first performance review.

And it appears there were... concerns. 🫣

Mika remains employed with Moon + Mountain at this time, although she has been placed on a PIP — Pawformance Improvement Plan.

She has shown absolutely no remorse. 🤺

Please keep Oliver in your thoughts during this difficult transition into upper management. He did not ask for this responsibility.

He just wanted to take a nap.

🐈‍⬛: “Sir, she’s touching the horsehair again.”
🧡: deep, exhausted Feline Resources sigh

🩷 HEART HORSE SUNDAY 🩷

Well, Sad Mailbox Horse did his job. 😎🤙🏼
We have a beautiful Heart Horse story to share this Sunday — and this one spans 18 years.

Meet Bonnie Love, affectionately known as “Bonnie Blue,” and her person, Savannah Pavich. 🩵

Bonnie came into Savannah's life as a rescue, and she wasn't exactly the safest horse in the beginning, but over nearly two decades together, Bonnie became something very different.

Savannah shared:

"My heart horse of 18 years. Bonnie Love ‘Bonnie Blue’ ❤️. She is a rescue and wasn’t the safest horse when I got her. Now she is such an amazing horse for beginners and children too.

She has been there through it all for me. Middle & high school, college, my whole 20s and special memory my wedding last year.

Her arthritis gets the best of her but she still loves trail rides!"

And honestly, 18 years together says so much all by itself.

Savannah grew up, graduated, went to college, lived through her twenties, fell in love and got married — and through all of those different versions of her life, Bonnie was there. 🥹😭

There's something incredibly special about the horses who don't just belong to one chapter of our story...they become part of the whole book.

And I absolutely LOVE that after starting as the rescue horse who wasn't always safe, Bonnie became a horse trusted with beginners and children. What a testament to everything these two have learned together! 🙌🏼

Now Bonnie may be a little older, and arthritis may have slowed her down, but she's apparently not ready to hang up her trail-riding shoes just yet. 🐴

Thank you, Savannah, for sharing Bonnie Blue with us and letting us celebrate your girl this Heart Horse Sunday. 🩷

Every horse has a story to tell — and after 18 years together, Bonnie and Savannah have written one heck of a story. ❤️🐴

Apparently, our Heart Horse Sunday horse is looking a little lonely this week. 🥺🐴🩷

I put out the call for someone to be featured today, and my inbox has been suspiciously quiet.

Surely y'all aren't going to tell me that in a group full of horse people, nobody wants an excuse to talk about their horse?! 👀

Because I know better.

So let's try this again:

🩷 I need Heart Horses! 🩷

Your horse doesn't have to be famous.
You don't have to have a dramatic story.
They don't have to have crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
And you definitely don't need to be a Moon + Mountain customer.

They just have to be your horse — the one who changed something in you. The one whose name makes you smile. The one who taught you something, carried you through something, challenged you, healed you, or simply decided that your heart belonged to them.

Current horses. Past horses. Retired horses. Horses waiting for you across the Rainbow Bridge. They're all welcome here. 🐴🩷

Send me a message with a few photos and tell me their story. I'll take care of turning it into a Heart Horse Sunday feature.

Because every horse has a story to tell — and I'd really love to tell yours.

Now somebody PLEASE volunteer before I have to start interviewing Selena every Sunday. She already thinks this page is about her. 🙄

Seriously, message me and tell me your story.Especially if I have created a keepsake for you. 🫶🏼

Today is one of those days where I don't necessarily love what I do...

Especially when the last keepsake I made ends up as a "limited edition" because I won't be able to get more hair from the horse who supplied it.

And also because I knew this horse personally. I threw my leg over his back a time or two years ago, and he was one of the best horses I ever had the honor of sitting astride.

Run In Paradise, Sweet Tomas. 🐎🧡

I'm so glad I got to kiss your sweet nose one last time.

And our deepest condolences to his human mama, Cheryl. We are absolutely heartbroken right along with her and send her all the love we can possibly fathom.
