Friends! Happy Weekend. If you were going to buy one Stella & Dot piece from me ever, this bracelet would be it. It has so much more meaning to it than just being a gorgeous piece of jewelry. Let me tell you more. Did you know that one woman dies every two minutes from complications during pregnancy and childbirth? And how many of us can relate to having our own complications at some point? Hearing more about this important cause during Hoopla last week, it really struck a cord with me. It’s easy to take for granted the access we have to wonderful healthcare, but most women around the world don’t have that luxury. Every year, Stella & Dot partners with a non-profit organization called Every Mother Counts who is dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every woman. They collaborate together and create a bracelet where all net proceeds are donated to this cause. This year, they’ve created the best one yet. It’s called the Illuminate Cuff and was inspired by all of the woven details found in Haiti, where EMC visits often. When you purchase one of these bracelets you are helping women around the US and the world to get the help they need. More specifically, EMC trains women to be doulas, they provide rides for women to get to a clinic where normally they'd have to walk 5-6 miles to get there, they train women to be birthing assistants, and so much more! And the coolest detail on this piece is that the interior is embossed with the names of all the important ladies in your life: MERE – SOEUR – FILLE – MOTHER – SISTER – DAUGHTER – MAMA – SCHWESTER – TOCHTER; which translates to Mother, Sister, Daughter in French, English, and German.
