Today, I pause to honor the birth of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop.

​As an alumnus of Kamehameha Schools, I am a direct beneficiary of her incredible foresight and generosity. She didn’t just leave behind an estate; she left behind a future for her people.

​Now, as a businessman in Hawaiʻi, her legacy serves as my professional compass. Pauahi taught me that:

​Business is about stewardship: We have a responsibility to manage our resources for the common good.

​Impact must be global: While her heart was for Hawaiʻi, her model of philanthropy inspires the entire world.

​I am proud to be a "Product of Pauahi," and I am committed to ensuring that my work reflects the values of leadership and service she embodied.

Happy birthday to the woman who has fundamentally changed my life for the better. When I prayed to become the best version of myself, I didn't know the answer to that prayer would be you. Your love hasn't just been a comfort; it has been a force that has allowed me to see my faults and inspired me to grow.

I know there have been times when my challenges made things difficult, yet you have faced them with me, not against me. Your strength, patience, and commitment to holding me accountable have been the greatest gift I could ever receive. You've helped me move past the person I was and guided me toward the person I want to be.

On your birthday, I want to celebrate the amazing person you are.  Thank you for everything, especially for being my beacon. I love you more than words can say.
