Requests for tents: 5
Tents in our donation room: 0
I just added several tents to our Amazon wish list. Our priority is the gentleman who has been housed for several years who finds himself in some unfortunate circumstances. He is in the process of moving his belongings to a temporary location until he gets a tent. He's going to need a bigger one because he does have a bed that he needs to sleep on for health reasons.❤️
I added several 8 person tents. His would need to be one big room rather than a family style multi room one to accommodate his bed.

See pictures for food! It's late and there's a lot of it!

Thank you, Bethany Church of the Nazarene for your kitchen, Country Gourmet at the Market and Panera Bread and others for your food donations and to those who picked up, and to my volunteers: Kaitie, Danielle, Chelsea, Amy, Alexa, Bob, Savannah, Trish, Gerry, Addy, Dax, Micah, Darcy, Kelly, Tammy, Barb, and Thomas. Full boat this week! Who did I forget?

And thank you to Chelsea for bringing me a Pepsi and Danielle for bringing me double cheeseburgers. I forget to eat so they remind me.

Update: She was worn out after work so we are postponing until tomorrow.
😁
Our girl is meeting us at the church tonight after work to pick up items, if anyone has things to offer! As more items come in, we will arrange for her to get them. Thank you to those who've already pitched in to help her!

Got to see one of our differently sheltered friends on Sunday who I haven't seen for months! Reunited with a hug. ❤️ He's requesting a headlamp and size 10 boots if anyone can help. Please put an R on these items if you have them to donate. Thank you in advance.

One of our differently sheltered friends has a birthday on the 5th. We are making her a cake but she has requested large sports bras, as her extra large ones have been hand sewn to try to make them smaller, and a bright lantern for inside her tent for her birthday! If anyone can help provide these items, please put an A on them when dropping off. Thank you in advance!

I met Alexa last year when she was doing a documentary on Tent City in Harrisburg and she quickly became one of my volunteers. She was with us on eviction day at Tent City in August of 2025, crying with us as folks were losing the only place they knew as home.

I'll do my usual weekly post tomorrow, but I have to share this!

At our second stop yesterday, the men alerted us to a kitten that was stuck in the engine compartment of a van. Animal control had been called. Several organizations were unable to retrieve the kitten.

Soon, several of our volunteers were under the van laying in the dirt with their feet sticking out and others went inside to ask for someone with the keys to pop the hood. If you had any idea how many suggestions and attempts there were to get this little girl out...

When Amy was moving around under the van, she rolled over into some tuna that someone had put out to try to get the kitten out. Gloves came out to try to keep from getting scratched by this angry little kitty. She went back and forth from meowing to hissing and growling. Those of us up top with flashlights tried to report on her location so those underneath could try to grab her. Danielle secretly named her Vanna.

Unfortunately, some of us had to leave because we had other stops to make and had to meet the cleanup crew at the church but Amy and Chelsea stayed and eventually, between them and the guys at the center, "Stucky" the kitten was free!

She was taken home by one of my new volunteers and went to a rescue today and was almost immediately "adopted" by a mama cat who looks after kittens with no moms.

Thank you to everybody who cared about this little life enough to be persistent in capturing her to go on to a better life! The van was scheduled to be used at 5:00 Monday morning whether there was a kitten living in it or not. So that little girl is fortunate she was surrounded by stubborn people!
