We’ve been impatiently waiting for the last spring calf to be born. He arrived healthy early this morning. 🙂

For gorgeous Zinnas in July and beyond, planting starts now. Zinnias are a fast growing and blooming cut flower thus the later start.

This one loves zinnias! She started some in February, put them in planters in the greenhouse. She’s been picking for a few weeks now. She was more than pleased to bring a bouquet of them for letter “Z” show and tell this week. 😊

A week ago we covered the tomatoes due to predicted cold weather. Despite the frosts we had, the majority of the tomatoes look a bit stressed, but they survived! Just a few on the end need to be replaced. Good news is we have extras yet. 🙂

Tomatoes do not like cool temperatures like we’re predicted to have this weekend so we “tucked them in” under plastic. Unfortunately, we were a little short so we pulled out the “walls of water” we’ve had for over a decade and never used. Yes, we can be pact rats, 😂 but it may just save those two tomato plants. 🤞🏻🙂

It’s go time! In between rains the rains we’ve been busy with spring projects, prepping ground, planting cool season veggies, snapdragons and prepping to get the herd back on pasture.

The onions, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, spinach, and early tomatoes (to be covered with plastic this weekend) are in the ground. While more spinach, carrots, beets, peas, kale, mustard, turnips, radishes, and arugula were direct seeded.

We’re looking forward to a great season!

It’s spinach time!

Overwinter spinach is some of the best tasting spinach with its “sweet” flavor.

We cut it fresh as we receive orders or if you drive up and are willing to wait five minutes or less we’ll cut then.

The wind was a wee bit destructive yesterday and has us scrambling for a bit. It took off a section of our lean-to roof. The mamas and calves in there were moved into the barn for their safety.

Matt stacked hay in the corner of the greenhouse as a windbreak and to protect it from anymore tin more that may have gone flying.

The wind attempted to free one of our tarps too. Just a *few* sandbags were tossed on it and another one that was thinking about becoming free. These plots are where some early veggies, including early tomatoes, will go.
