Cowboy's Sweetheart Jewelry

Cowboy's Sweetheart Jewelry Kick-Ass Jewelry That'll Stirrup Your Cowgirl Spirit! My life, in many ways, resembles a
Spaghetti Western film.

Here’s how…

I emerged in the late 1960s, and was co-produced by an Italian. After completing art school, I moved to the American Southwest and, typical of the genre, became immersed in a culture of minimal funds, gunslingers, outlaws, artistic camera angles, and raw, explosive action scenes. A low-budget, highly fluid, minimalist, creative lifestyle has been the result. Audiences have enjoyed it,

and my jewelry has come to be held in high regard. Like the cowgirls whose spirits also inspire my work, these pieces have integrity, grace, and spunk. Each Cowboy’s Sweetheart creation is a unique work of art intended to be worn and enjoyed for its beauty, and to rustle up that free spirit within women from all walks of life.

I've been making jewelry for a long time, and here's something I've learned: the pieces that leave the biggest impression aren't always the ones that sell.

Over the years, I've quietly set aside work to give away — to people going through something hard, to fundraisers for communities in crisis, to individuals who needed a tangible reminder that someone out there was thinking of them. It's always felt like one of the most important things I do.

So I built a structure around it.

The Sweetheart Fund is a contribution pool — funded by people who want to be part of something meaningful, managed entirely by me. When I encounter a situation where a handmade piece can offer real comfort or support, that's where I turn. I won't always be able to share the specifics — some acts of care are private by nature — but I can promise that every contribution is handled with the same intention I bring to everything I make.

No goods in exchange. No tax deduction. Just the knowledge that your generosity is being held carefully and put to use in the world.

Someone in your circle is probably having a harder time than you know. This fund exists for them.

What a fun opportunity to be able to include a copy of my children's book into a Gold Hill time capsule! We get to open the time capsule that was left for us 50 years ago before sealing up the one we will leave for 2076. I've included these thoughts on the inside cover: This book was completed in the quiet of the Covid-19 pandemic, in the little mountain town it celebrates. If you're reading this, Gold Hill is still on the map — and that alone is worth a hooray. Horsing Around In The Town Of Gold Hill tucked into a time capsule, waiting patiently for 2076 like a good horse tied to a post. I’ll be 109 years old!
The early days of the pandemic taught me something unexpected: there's a difference between choosing solitude and having it forced upon you by a world that can no longer breathe. I found myself longing for things I once took for granted. The easy warmth of a hug. The nearness of friends. The simple, human comfort of presence without fear. And in that quiet, I turned to what I always do for solace: making things.
Gold Hill sits on the traditional territories of the Ute, Cheyenne, and Arapaho peoples. Chief Niwot, whose Arapaho people lived along the Front Range, is remembered for both his diplomacy and a haunting prophecy: "People seeing the beauty of this valley will want to stay, and their staying will be the undoing of the beauty." He was killed at Sand Creek in 1864. His words are not a curse — they are a warning.
This book is my small answer to that warning. It was written in the hope that young readers will see the beauty here, cherish it deeply, and choose not to undo it — that they'll grow into people who understand that loving a place means caring for it, and honoring those who came first.
May the stories that matter most in your time still get told by someone who loves them.

Meet Mabel Strickland. Washington State, 1897. All-around rodeo champion — steer roping, saddle bronc riding, trick riding. At 98 pounds, she came within four seconds of the men's world steer-roping record at Pendleton. The response? Both Pendleton and Cheyenne Frontier Days organizers quietly changed their qualification rules to ensure a woman could only ever place second. Never win.

She kept showing up anyway — extravagantly dressed in red velvet split skirts and silk shirts, fully composed and entirely herself, bringing all of it to the arena every time without apology or explanation. Most of us have learned to edit the parts of ourselves that make others uncomfortable. The parts that feel like too much… or not enough— too ambitious, too serious, too playful, too extravagant, too intense. The parts we leave behind because others find them confusing or contradictory. We have all, at one time or another, self-homogenized within this closed system out of fear of judgment or rejection.

What strikes you most about her story? If Mabel were sitting across from you right now, what do you think she'd tell you to stop apologizing for?

Wedding season is nigh! Thanks to for capturing this fun elopement in Gold Hill. Clearly, it was a personalized celebration that mirrored the couple’s unique bond and I, as an innocent bystander, got to witness it…. and provide a necklace.
