Project for today…Create a shelf for my 7” Shear. I hated cutting sheet on this because I couldn’t guarantee they were square. The metal would just hang off on the left side and twist as I was cutting. So I found an aluminum shelf with a large enough tongue that we could drill new holes into to retrofit onto my shear where the original bolts were located. Also purchased a 10” piece of aluminum strip that I could butt up my metal sheet to, to assure it was square when I cut it. That was the easy part, thanks to my hubby, he made my vision come to life! I added a tape ruler to the bar so I have a guide if I were to cut items without marking a measurement. Granted the more expensive shears have the table with guide and ruler, but I couldn’t justify spending that. The one I liked was $1,600. 😳 The one I bought was less than $100. Plus, it has a much smaller footprint, and can cut up to 7” in length. It saves me from having to cut sheets down to a more manageable size by hand (I purchase my sheets in 6x12” sizes). I am also able to cut much thicker pieces easily. Many of the cuffs I create are at least 14g thick. The additional little bar you see in one of the photos allows me to cut thicker pieces and still be square by offsetting the piece a bit from the blade. It is a temporary piece that was left over from the original bar at the top. I will replace it with a longer one. I am a happy camper!
