Update: Rebuilding Stability, Restarting Treatment, and Reopening My Sewing Journey
It’s been a long, exhausting road these past few months. I’ve been fighting not only cancer, but homelessness, extreme heat, and a system that repeatedly failed to protect someone as medically vulnerable as I am. Every door I knocked on for help seemed to close just as quickly.
Finding safe, affordable housing in a market full of “luxury” and “student” apartments felt impossible. My credit and rental history made it even harder. While I searched, the rising temperatures became a daily threat to my health. The camper I was loaned gave me shelter, but without power or running water, the heat made me sick every single day. I created a small “cool zone” for my cats, but it barely helped. Eventually, I had to pause my cancer treatments because the heat and stress were making everything worse.
I worked as many hours as I could because at least work meant air conditioning, running water, and a chance to save enough to get into a home. But without power where I was staying, I had to spend what little I had on prepared food and endless bags of ice just to keep cold water for myself and my pets.
After months of struggle, I finally found someone willing to work with me, and I was able to move into a new apartment. A few kind people donated household items to help me get settled, and for the first time in a long time, I felt a little bit of stability.
But once I got back to my doctors, the reality of what the past months did to my body hit hard. They found pressure building near my tumor due to a small clot, a severe Crohn’s flare, and other complications from going without proper treatment. Today, I picked up medications I haven’t been able to afford for months — seizure meds, pain meds, clot medication, and antibiotics for the intestinal infection.
My doctors are urging me to take time off work to recover, stabilize, and prepare for another round of chemo and proton therapy. They want me to give my body the chance it needs to fight this cancer safely.
But I can’t afford to stop working. I just moved into my home. I spent everything I had on deposits, utilities, and basic necessities. Missing work now could put me right back into the situation that nearly destroyed my health.
So this time, I’m asking for help — not to save my home, but to save my health.

I also want to share something important:
This page originally belonged to my sewing business. And now that I’m in a home again, I’m trying to rebuild that part of my life too. I desperately need additional income — not just for stability, but so that if my body forces me to stay home during treatment, I can still pay rent, keep the utilities on, and provide for myself and my pets.
To do that, I’m trying to get a new sewing machine so I can reopen my small business and start taking orders again. Sewing has always been a source of joy, creativity, and independence for me. It could also become the fallback income I need to survive while undergoing treatment.
Every share, every donation, every bit of support helps me take one more step toward stability, healing, and rebuilding my life.
Thank you for standing with me through everything — the impossible moments, the setbacks, and the small victories. I’m still fighting, and I’m not giving up.
