For Michael and Catherine Eberhart, that sense of community became especially meaningful during a stressful search for childcare. 🍭

When they were nearing the end of parental leave with Claire without a childcare solution they felt confident about, Catherine reached out through a Hollyhock Facebook group. A neighborhood mom stepped in to help. ✨

Whether it’s childcare, friendships, parents’ nights out, or kids moving between backyards, the Eberharts say Hollyhock has truly become their village. 🤝

Craftway Kitchen has officially made its way back into Samantha Alexander’s restaurant rotation, from casual meals to pineapple martinis with friends. 🍸

After an unplanned break from the restaurant, Samantha returned during a summer ladies’ pool day and quickly remembered what she had been missing. Great food, welcoming service, and memorable favorites have earned Craftway Kitchen a well-deserved spot back on Samantha’s list. 🍽️

With a weekday happy hour from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and locations in Frisco, Plano, and Southlake, Craftway Kitchen offers plenty of reasons to plan another visit. 📍

Pool afternoons, dinosaurs, sushi, golf, and plenty of family adventures. The Eberharts know how to make the most of life together! ☀️

Connor’s ideal day includes playing with dinosaurs and swimming in his best friend’s pool next door, while little sister Claire happily tags along with her big brother. 🌟

Michael enjoys golf, disc golf, and experimenting with new recipes as the family chef. Catherine makes time for barre, GTX, and spin classes. 💫

Perry Guillard’s checklist includes enriched soil, sun, water, fertilizer, and disease and pest control. ✨

Consider testing your soil in mid-August, giving stressed plants shade during extreme heat, adjusting your watering schedule, and inspecting the garden daily for early signs of pests or disease. 🔍

August is also a great time to start preparing your garden for the cooler planting season coming in early September. 🍂

Sometimes the most meaningful vacation memories are the simplest ones. ✨

For Brie Trevorrow’s family, a summer trip to Avon Lake meant popsicles in the driveway, afternoons by the water, incredible local ice cream, and watching old friends reconnect while their children became friends too. 🙌

Brie described Avon Lake as friendly, laid back, and refreshingly slower-paced. Huntington Beach on Lake Erie was a standout destination, but reconnecting with cherished friends was the true highlight. 💫

A love story that started with chance encounters at a dog park has grown into a beautiful family life here in Hollyhock. 🏡

Michael and Catherine first crossed paths while walking their dogs at The Shops at Legacy. Conversations about college football eventually led to a first date at Samui Thai, and the rest is history. 🐾

Their story is a beautiful reminder that home is more than where you live. It’s where your story continues to grow. ✨

Resident contributor Samantha Alexander rediscovered Craftway Kitchen and quickly remembered why it deserved a spot on her list. 🍽️

The warm atmosphere and friendly service made an impression, but the food sealed the deal. Her go-to order is the lump crab cake with lemon butter sauce and Thai chili Brussels sprouts. And for dessert, the croissant bread pudding comes warm with homemade whipped cream and made-from-scratch ice cream. 🍨

Read more about her experience and favorite menu picks in this month’s issue of Stroll Hollyhock. 📰

Hollyhock resident contributor Perry Guillard recommends shifting garden care to off-sunlight hours during the intense August heat. ☀️

Increase watering as needed, water directly at soil level, and make sure moisture reaches the root zone. Perry especially likes using a soaker hose to moisten the soil at the base of plants. 🌱

Moving garden care to cooler hours can help plants stay hydrated while making those hot August days a little easier on gardeners, too. 🪴
