So when you give your promise to him that you will be with him, it means you have to follow the good manners because shuyookh don’t like the bad manners, they like the good manners. So on that way there are a lot of obstacles, but you asked for it. Like a promise, `ahad, a covenant, or we call it baya`, tu`ahid `alaa ‘s-saraa'i wa 'd-daraa, you take an oath, a promise to the shaykh that you will follow for good and through difficulty, so you don't take back your promise as it is finished, you are committed."

If you just sit like a passenger, how will it drive? Himmah is ready all the time, but you must turn the ignition. You take your tasbih, ready for dhikr, but so many excuses come, ‘Not now, later.’ But if you are saying, ‘You must sit,’ and then putting your heart to the heart of Grandshaykh, then dhikr is running, motivation coming!

The presence of a wali in your life will give you a push up, to enable you to be in the Divine Presence and in the presence of the Prophet (s). A wali said, “I saw the Prophet (s) in my dream and asked, ‘Yaa Sayyidee, yaa Rasoolullah, what is the best `amal?’ He said, wuqoofuk bayna yadayy waliullah, ‘To be in the presence of a wali.’” That is one of the best `amal you can do, because when you sit in his presence he will overtake you; he will dress you with what Allah, the Prophet (s), and his grandshaykh have dressed him and what he has gained from them, without even hearing a subhah, only by sitting with him.

Sayyidina `Ali (r) said, “Whoever makes salawaat on the Prophet (s) with these words three times every day and a hundred times on Jumu`ah day, will benefit from them as if all of Creation, all Muslims on Earth, all mu’min jinn, and all angels have made salawaat on the Prophet (s)!"

WORDS OF WISDOM:
Your safety is that ayah, fa firroo ila ’Llah, run to Allah (swt). There is no other way except to run to Allah (swt). Fa firroo ila ’Llah! But when you begin to run to Allah (swt), Shaytan does not like that; he wants to stop you in order to make you face obstacles, but such associations, such meetings can transform you from earthly life to heavenly life, which means you will be dressed from Gardens of Heavens. That’s why Prophet (s) said, “When you pass by these associations on your way, bi riyaadh al jannah, through the Garden of Paradise, sit, don’t leave it, don’t listen to Shaytan and run away, you sit, because you will be dressed from al-Noor al-Muhammadi, which is like a rocket that takes you far forward, not slowly, slowly, but it will boost you up to reach your destiny. For example, if it takes you one hour to reach on your own, with al-Noor al-Muhammadi it might take one moment and you be on the other side!
