Tonight, I modified my original idea for drink coaster sets. Materials used: square laminate samples (from a home improvement store), repurposed silicon jar seal gaskets (from the clearance bin at a craft store), and felt crafting shapes. The silicon keeps your drink in place. The felt helps absorb condensation. My prototype with a felt pattern alone was a hit, so I played with it when I found the silicon pieces (neither the cashier nor I knew what they were for until she rung them up). I kind of like how they resemble speech bubbles. They're not yet secured, as I'm still deciding. What do you think?

I know it's been a very long time since I've shared any creative stuff here. A few moves and many life events later, I'm here to share that I'm back to creating jewelry and crafts out of upcycled and repurposed materials.

Here's a sneak peek at the current project using a huge stash of children's bracelets I got in a grab bag at a thrift store. I'm working on giving these beauties new life now as hoop earrings and then also as necklaces and home decor items. I am using the small stash of silver-toned findings I have in stock, but I will also be using gold-toned hardware, as well. These are baby steps toward even more creations. I am also working on new iterations of drink coasters made from laminate samples with felt and other found objects, as well as new ideas in the works.

I hope to upload new items to my Etsy page soon, and I'll post an update here when I do.
