It feels like the Iowa Bike Expo is the official start of the cycling year — anyone else feel that way? 🚲✨
In the middle of an Iowa winter, this weekend is a bright spot. Cycling enthusiasts from across Iowa, the Midwest, and beyond come together to gear up, see what’s new, and reconnect with bike friends you might not have seen since your last ride together in 2025.
This reel says it all — from a blank booth to a full day of smiles, stories, and familiar faces stopping by year after year. Watching our space fill up, seeing customers try on pieces, show off what they just picked up, and share their cycling stories with us… that’s the magic.
For us, there’s no place we’d rather be than right here — sharing our love of cycling, on and off the bike, and celebrating the connections that keep us coming back every year. See you next Saturday!💙

RYLU Bike & Be You
RYLU – Bike & Be You is a family owned and operated business based in Urbandale, Iowa. The RYLU name is derived from combining John’s children’s names, Rylie and Lucas.
John has been an avid cyclist since 1994, and has participated in 22 RAGBRAI rides as well as numerous other bicycle tours and races. The Des Moines area cycling scene is one of the best in the nation due to the abundance of trails and social rides leading to a love of cycling with friends and family.
What started by crafting a pair of earrings for a Valentines Day gift has evolved into a love of creating unique bicycling related jewelry and decor for others. Each design combines up-cycled parts from many sources – bicycle chains, wheels, cassettes, spokes and vintage license plates to create unique pieces.
Each piece will be unique in its own special way due to the characteristics of the materials involved. If you do not see a design that you like, please contact us and we will be happy to design something for you! If you have materials (chain, license plates, etc) that have special meaning, we would be happy to incorporate them into a special project just for you!
