For well over a decade now I’ve been creating one of a kind statement pieces out of pieces from the past… before Stella and dot or other manufactured brands , I’m proud to say Rhys Cameron vintage was one of the early pioneers of this trend....making Family heirlooms into wearable art..taking old brooches , earrings and necklaces that lived a full life in the past , giving them new life in the present.
I’ve been so fortunate to have success with a line that started almost 20 years ago now ..people often ask me how it all began ...it all started when I inherited some of my grandmothers costume jewelry..I always admired the pieces but just never found a purpose for them outside of the box I kept them in ...until one day I was tinkering around when my kids were babies ...looking for way to come up with a funky necklace I could wear on a trip home to Chicago ...so I put something together and threw on a pair of ripped jeans and a white tee and hit the airport ..flooded with compliments And multiple offers to buy off my neck haha ..an idea was born ..what started out at a personal quest turned into quite an adventure in creativity and commerce . Lol
Fast forward to most recent years, my jewelry has been shown at art galleries , private sales as well as being featured artist for online site vintageandmodern.com , local GIFtmarts and various show rooms around the Midwest ..not to mention the countless custom prices I’ve made for wonderful clients who also wanted to find new ways to honor family heirlooms ..
The biggest surprise of this journey was to be approached by Nicole Miller , a world renowned and respected designer and artist who saw my designs online at and mentioned me in a morning meeting to her staff ..from that came a direct purchased from Nicole for a piece as well as negotiating purchasing several of my one of a kind items to be shown and sold in her flag ship show rooms in Chicago, New York, Soho, LA, and Miami. Never in my wildest dreams would I think someone of her caliber would even see my designs,… let alone want to showcase them in her showrooms . What a blessing and an honor !
However , as time went on and as my family and interior design business grew I felt a shift in my priorities and creative energies adjusted to a more practical focus which led to a little hiatus from jewelry ...
So… After a long break, and many inquiries.. Ive decided to bring back a few pieces and create a little holiday collection that will be available right before Christmas. Sneak peaks coming all weekend… Online sale will be limited time so Keep watching…
