My bestie has a crazy way of not only getting me out of art block but also giving me a challenge with such a good reason that I can’t say no. This is one of those. Her brother-in-law joked that he wanted a griffin for Christmas so they came straight to me. Griffins & landscapes aren’t things I do often but this dude has had a hell of a year so by golly he was gonna get one! The Griffin sores above the fog on a beand new day; just as I hope he will. I’m proud of how it came out; especially after months without painting. These are without flash & with to show the metallic details. Original watercolor with marker by me.

I have had to take a bit of a step back lately due to a bad concussion but I’ll tell ya; it’s come as unexpected reset that I REALLY needed. Limiting not only my screen time but my listening & intense/small detail focus time to about 20 mins per hour… it really changes your world & forces you FIND SOMETHING TO DO. At first that was really hard & the depression started to kick in. But a friend gave me a heart to heart & told me to just pick something to work on in my house that was bothering me. So I did. And then I picked up a book for the first time in years. Then I painted this beautiful pot. And I also rested and meditated and did a lot of thinking. And it’s not over yet; here’s to emerging from this a healed butterfly with a much harder head!

Sooo psyched about how this cicada pendant came out! Real cicada, flowers, & leaves in UV resin in a polymer clay frame. Think she’s going on a thick gold chain cuz she’s a STATEMENT! Will be available at The Middle of NoWhere Festival this Saturday!!! Its gonna be an amazing show- 30+ artists, live music, kids activities, face painting by Kate Allender, multiple food vendors, oh & did i mention its at The Cellar Winery?! I just had to do a glowing poison dart frog to match my nails! He looks SO cool under the changing led lights. Still needs pressed, sealed, & I’m working on getting all originals matted (which is the bane of my existence as an artist).
