A miscarriage is still a birth.
It may be an early birth, but it is a birth all the same.
Your body labors.
The cramps, the contractions, the bleeding... your body does the very work it would do to bring life into this world. Only this time, it ends in silence.
Your heart breaks.
Your arms ache for what they’ll never hold.
And just like every other birth story, this one changes you forever.
The postpartum that follows is real. The exhaustion, the recovery, the emotions that come in waves, it deserves recognition, compassion, and space to heal.
This truth doesn’t take away from full term birth stories. Every birth story is unique, every one is sacred.
But miscarriage deserves to be acknowledged for what it is: not “just a heavy period,” but a life altering experience.
October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.
To every parent who carries this grief in silence, your story matters, your pain is real, and you are not alone.
