I’ve been at this game a while — half my life (20 years!) to be exact!

I wanted to go big and share the love with 20% off all Grey + Aqua-Teal moissanite rings! Shop via link in bio. Use code BDAY20 at checkout. 🛒

Honestly, I still wake up every day wondering how the f*** I get to keep doing this for a living. Read on if you feel like a trip down memory lane with me:

20 years ago, I was an art major focused on metalsmithing + jewelry design. I basically lived in the jewelry studio — even TA’ing after hours and during summers. I was obsessed.

While still in school, I got hired at a high-end jewelry store as a bench jeweler/salesperson. They encouraged me to sell my own work there too, but I was so terrified of talking about my own pieces that when customers asked about them, I’d pretend another artist made them. 😅

Then the 2008 recession hit during my final year of college, and the store closed. Around that same time, I heard about this tiny little website called Etsy and listed a few pieces to help pay bills.

Not long after, I moved from Vermont to Los Angeles with one duffle bag to work as a bench jeweler for another artist, while keeping my little side hustle going at night.

Eventually that “side hustle” grew enough for me to take the leap and go all-in on my own business.

In those early years I never thought this would be a long-term career. I felt like I just kept getting lucky, and that eventually I’d have to pivot into a different career.

But somehow...I’m still here, which is totally wild. I mean, I worked my buns off. I’m passionate about jewelry, and I was a classic perfectionist workaholic, which are admittedly not good qualities to have (would not recommend, tbh!).

But I’m grateful for all those early years, and do not take it for granted that I still get to do what I love every single day.

Thanks for being here and for celebrating 20 years in this industry (and my 40th) bday with me!

all my love,
Kristin

Everyone loves to say how white diamonds are the “classic” choice. BUT GUESS WHAT? Diamonds weren’t popularized until the infamous De Beers marketing campaign in the mid-20th century.

Before that, rings signifying love and betrothal were more commonly adorned with colorful gems like sapphire, ruby, and emerald, or semi-precious stones like aquamarine, garnet, topaz, and more.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love a white diamond style when done well. BUT I think it’s important to remember that the white diamond “tradition” really isn’t all that old, and was mostly the brainchild of an excellent marketing team.

What’s your favorite colored gemstone? 🌈

This Old Mine Cushion champagne diamond is everything. 🤎

Split shank and claw prongs for a contemporary feel.

Girrrrl, this ring is so so good!

Do I need them?? Help meeeee

Is this a color you’d buy and wear? Be honest!

I was thinking they’re a perfect aquamarine alternative — better sparkle and *way* more durable. Aqua lovers, what are your thoughts?

I was thinking I’d snag the old mine oval and the ashoka cut, maybe one more? Does this seem like a good idea or nah? I truly want your opinions, as I obviously want to purchase stones that sell and not sit in inventory.

Thanks for your opinions, y’all are the best 🩵

Give me your best name ideas!

This 3.05ct champagne old mine moval cut diamond was so stunning, and I decided to go full maximalist with the setting:

Featuring a tangle of gold ferns, leaves, and forget-me-nots in a subtle matte satin finish.

What should I name her?

The perfect treat yourself ring, now 20% off with code BDAY20. 🥀

The Juliet with a dreamy emerald cut grey moissanite, suspended between solid gold skulls. 💀

All Grey + Aqua-Teal rings are 20% off, shop via link in bio. Limited quantities, so only until they sell out.

Each skull is adorned with a pear shaped diamond to create a three-stone look from top view.

The shank stones can be customized with birthstones to symbolize the special souls in your life — you and your love, special people or pets, or to mark events in your life.

I’ve always been enamored by antique Memento Mori jewelry, and this is my reimagining of some of its symbolism.
