Did you know one of the world’s largest pearls was almost lost because it was mistaken for a lucky charm?
Found off the coast of Palawan in the early 2000s, the Pearl of Puerto (once believed to be the Pearl of Allah) weighs an astonishing 34 kilograms (75 pounds).

The fisherman who discovered it reportedly kept it under his bed for nearly ten years, unaware of its value, and only revealed it after a house fire prompted him to safeguard the massive, non-flammable stone.

While not a gem-quality pearl but a colossal giant clam formation, it remains the largest pearl ever documented—an extraordinary global record rooted in the Philippines.
